Someone posted this as an answer to my last question

Colossians 1:15 calls Jesus “the image of the invisible God.”

Didn't one or two people see God in the Old Testament?
At least 1 that I'm pretty sure of was Adam.

Visible and invisible are words that deal with perception. Perception is a function of physicality. God is not a physical object so She can not be said to be visible.

God has always been invisible. If He choose to He allows His glory to be seen, as he did with Adam. God's glory was not a strange thing in those days and neither was hearing His voice. In the it says that the things that are visible are temporary and the things that are invisible are permanent. Therefore, God who is invisible made all things that are visible. God is Spirit(unseen). We are spirits(unseen) made by God. God decided to put us in a body(seen)so we can operate in this physical realm called the earth. Many a men conversed and walked with God, none saw Him(His face)only His glory. The Bible says no man can see God's face and live. Because God is holy.....totally sinless. But one day in the by-and-by we will see Him as He is. Wont that be awesome to behold His glory and reign with Him forever?!!! Yes, Jesus is the image of the invisible GOD. When Jesus was asked the question, "Show us the Father", Jesus said, "When you look at me you have seen the Father". If you notice all the names in the Bible that describes God are presence tense. God never Was-God always Is. That's why He calls himself, I AM. So to reject the Bibe and call it old fashioned, outdated or whatever, is dangerous. Because God's word fits all TIME, all Generations, and all Needs. He is the first and the last, the Beginning and the End.

No one has seen God at any time. So teaches John 1:18. No one in the "Old Testament" saw him either. They saw representatives. It is impossible for humans to see God and live, according to God himself. So teaches Exodus 33:20. Adam did not see God either.

Therefore, to human eyes, God has always been invisible.

That was my answer. God is invisible in a way we do not really see him physically, even us believers.

Those mentioned in the bible did not literally see God because in Exodus 33: 20 God was saying (to Moses): “You are not able to see my face, because no man may see me and yet live.”

Moses was one who saw God's glory. Exodus 24:9-11.

Moses asked to see God’s glory in the mountain, and he did see the afterglow of Jehovah’s glory. When he went into the tabernacle, he did not wear a veil. Moses was a man of deep faith who desired to do God’s will. Though he was blessed with seeing some of Jehovah’s glory in vision, in a sense he had already beheld God with eyes of faith. The Bible says that Moses “continued steadfast as seeing the One who is invisible.” (Hebrews 11:27; Exodus 34:5-7) And he reflected God’s glory not merely by those rays that emanated from his face for a time but also through his efforts to assist the Israelites to come to know and serve Jehovah.

Dear Mr. sho-nuff ....a pleasure to communicate with you again.
Being the 'image' of God is not necessarily a PHYSICAL thing.
If God is kind, loving, merciful, patient, long-suffering and compassionate AND low and behold! so is Jesus ....Jesus is thus "in His image."
Jesus reflects God's personnailty to the nth degree.
That's why Jesus could say:
"He who has seen me has seen the Father."
Same personnality. Same attitude. Same manner.
BTW God being invisible is a matter of wordage.
He is invisible to the human eye.
It appears that angels, demons and Jesus himself have no problem seeing Him.

God has taken on certain physical manifestations, such as the burning bush and a dove, and of course let's not forget Jesus.

Happy Boxing Day, by the way.

God has never been and will never be invisible. He is with us all of the time. His presence is seen and felt by the many who love Him and worship Him. Praise God!

First of all, you were never a Christian, because God does not make mistakes.

God is a spirit, and can do whatever He wishes, including making Himself visible or not.
