I have had around 25 cats my whole life (I'm only 20, but married though) and I also have a 1 1/2 year old boy. Cats can cause allergies/allergic reactions. They have certain chemicals in their pee. BUT they don't have anything to do with women's ability to conceive. Their feces are harmful to pregnant women. It's called toxoplasmosis, it's like a virus or something (I forget) and if a pregnant woman comes in contact with it, she can get it and it creates defects in births... mostly down syndrome. Otherwise, cats can cause problems that any other animal could cause - mostly allergies or an allergic reaction to their dander.

Wow...Now that's a real old wives tale! There are a lot of reasons why your cousin may not be able to get pregnant. I'd be looking in more sensible areas than her cats...although I must say 30 is pretty extreme...but that's a different issue.

Pregnant women should stay away from cat feces!! There is something damaging in the feces of the cat that will cause problems for a pregnant woman.

The condition is called toxoplasmosis, and can kill an unborn child!

I haven't heard that and I've been around the block a few times.
I have heard and it's proved by the docs that cat urine is bad for pregnant women. It can cause miscarriages and birth defects. That might be what you're thinking about.
Try webmd.com and see if it offers anything that might help you get the info you're after.

what happened to your aunt is probably a coincidence. there have been no studies showing a connnection between cats and infertility. but yes, cats can be very dirty especially stray cats. they may harbor lots of microorganisms that can cause diseases. cats with ticks can cause parasitic infections too. and obviously, one can get allergy/asthma due to cat fur.

no as a doctor of medicine .....i read nothing like that ....however cats some times feed upon dirty creatures like mice so its true that their mouth is very germfull .....so which should not be allowed to be in utincles and dishes...thats all.
