Religion is a norm/idea created by human beings to give meaning and purpose to one's existence. But if religion has not roused a person to love, it has roused him in vain.

Spirituality on the other hand is an inherent aspect which is sought by all men at some point or the other in their lives, it is the true way of understanding the nature of things, through observation and questioning, and then discovering answers to these questions with experience and wisdom. Spirituality is very necessary to attain peace of mind, and is the only gateway to free oneself of hate, anger, greed and ignorance.

So is religion necessary, i don't think so, atheists are doing good without it (contributing well to society).. is spirituality necessary? Definitely. It brings light unto an ignorant self.

Religion is the term for the sect of spirituality you follow. Spirituality is the manifestation of your belief in a higher being. What we need most is spirituality.

Religion is the teachings and dogma - Christians (the Bible).

Spirituality is your relationship and connection with the Divine - and practices (in or out of religion itself) that deepings understanding of Spirit.

Typically - it is followers that create religion.
Buddha only taught a practice - he said he was no god and he said find out for yourselves (don't just believe me) - and yet a religion sprung up around the teachings.

Jesus taught Love and made a few corrections (as he saw it) on the practice of Judaism of the time. His followers still worshiped in the Jewish synagogs. Only after Jesus' death did his followers create a separate religion around the teachings and split from Judaism (thus creating a new religion). Jesus was not a divider - this is not what he did while he was alive.

My ancestors created religion almost 10,000 years ago. It is the way we respond to the gods as a community. How we carry that faith and use every day in our lives is spirituality.

Form your question better. But here goes:

Religion is a group of people who believe the same things. Religion is much like theocracy. Everyone who believes in the same god or gods in the same way is a religion.

Spirituality is more like individual, to cleanse one's soul so to speak. To believe your own beliefs however you want to believe them.

Important: You CAN be spirtitual WITHOUT being religious.

God had created the religion to guide us in our everyday life. In actual fact religion is to educate our "desire" within our soul because it is our "desire " that will make us do good or evil. In another word, religion is used to guide us spiritually. If our "desire" is under our control, it will always lead us towards good and not evil. As our "desire" and soul belong to the spiritual world which is invisible by our naked eyes.

I don't need either.

I just need God, and I know He's there for me, always.
