LOL. That's a good one.

Don't they recognize their reflections?

If so then I guess they have consciousness and souls so I would say yes.

But I'm not a Christian

I try to think logically.

The diference between guy and all different animals is self-cognizance. Apes would nicely study some rudimentry signs and indications (even although having seen such claims I have my doubts that the ape in question is actual forming sentences or if the "translator" isn't being somewhat over zealous) the ape nonetheless lacks even the ideal foundation for rationality. hence, i must reject your uncomplicated premise that an ape may study signal language. If it extremely ought to, it may not be an ape. after all, in case you extremely trust that you may practice an ape to talk and understand utilizing signal language, bypass into the cage after making the ape hungry and offended and clarify that that is basically element of an try. See if he receives it. .

If one could teach an ape sign language (actually it's easier for us to learn theirs, which they already have to a certain extent) we'd be better off training them to think like scientists, musicians, artists, computer programmers ...

There aren't many apes left in the world. The last thing we need is different bunches of people converting them to their own religion, because then they'd start wars amongst themselves. Just look around and see how many human beings have been killed in the name of religion.

No. Read the following bible verse.

(Ecclesiastes 3:18-22) 18 I, even I, have said in my heart with regard to the sons of mankind that the [true] God is going to select them, that they may see that they themselves are beasts. 19 For there is an eventuality as respects the sons of mankind and an eventuality as respects the beast, and they have the same eventuality. As the one dies, so the other dies; and they all have but one spirit, so that there is no superiority of the man over the beast, for everything is vanity. 20 All are going to one place. They have all come to be from the dust, and they are all returning to the dust. 21 Who is there knowing the spirit of the sons of mankind, whether it is ascending upward; and the spirit of the beast, whether it is descending downward to the earth? 22 And I have seen that there is nothing better than that the man should rejoice in his works, for that is his portion; because who will bring him in to look on what is going to be after him?

But, read Psalms 37:9,10,11. Matth 5:5. Mankind has a hope for everlasting life providing he follows God's commandments which is something an animal cannot do.

I guess the question would be does animals have a soul? I don't have an answer for that one. I would like to think that there would be animals in heaven.

Teaching an ape to love and be good is much easier than telling it/him/her about religion/creationism/God/Bible/Heaven etcetera etcetera.. The good things in life are very obvious, i think man has got a lot to learn from animals rather than teaching (proselytizing) them about superficial things.

Koko was recently told about god and religion.
Her response? "silly story".
Funny how a so called "lower animal" when presented with the facts and given the tools of communication, can recognize bull **** when she sees it huh?
I guess early brainwashing is the key to christian (and in fact all religious) success.
