I'm oblivious. She would have to come up to me and hit me between the eyes for me to get that she was given me the eye.

Sorry, but despite our most fervent wishes, we are not mind-readers. People glance away continuously as they converse, look around them as the walk, glance here and there as they undertake routine tasks like putting on a coat, opening a locker, starting the car...and frequently make eye contact with lots of other people. One learns very early in life that those brief eye contacts are inconsequential and that only a retard, a fool or a fiend responds to them as if they were personal invitations to intimacy.
You want a guy to be aware that you're interested, you got to be adult enough to tell him directly. None of this silly little-girl "shy stares" or the even sillier, more childish crap of trying to get a mutual acquaintance to inform the guy of your interest. You pull this kind of immature bull and you prove you're NOT READY for serious adult relationships.

Guys are dense. So, the more obvious you are, the clearer the message is! However, I don't suggest that you start licking your lips while making google eyes at him, that's just a little too much! :)

We notice, but it usually doesn't mean the same thing as when a guy does it...it's usually not worth the risk to pursue it

Glances are often misunderstood by both sexes. You should walk up and politely compliment him. People tend to not say enough nice things to eachother.

the lady would have to be very obvious for me -- if only to get past the "ME you are interested in ME OMG" --- and i would not notice and if i did would conclude you had something in your eye

If I know them, they will almost have to say it, because I already know them as friends, so if she wants more it would have to be very obvious.

We notice! (In fact, a lot of us ''notice'' being ''checked out'' when we're not being checked out. I think that's filed under ''Wishful thinking!'')
