I know that budgies regurgitate - for their mates? But she is all on her own. She's been given a mirror (ages ago) and we think that she thinks this is another budgie - however she's never brought up seeds before.
we left her alone on christmas day - we needed to go to my aunty's (I felt really bad) - do you think this may have caused anything? We didn't keep the heating on, but put a cloth on her.
cage. She also stands on one leg -I asked about this before - and people said it was quite serious, and was something to do with the kidneys. But she has been fine, up until now - I asked about 3 or 4 months ago.
She seems quite sleepy and not her normal chattery self - and she is bringing up seeds - but not exactly being sick. She's not even looking into the mirror. is there something wrong?

If you believe your bird's routine or health has changed, take her to an avian vet for a check-up. IMO, birds need an annual check-up anyway. My Green Cheek Conure will get car sick, regurgitate seed and then go back for more. Additionally, It isn't unusual for a Budgie to regurgitate for the mirror buddy.

There is nothing wrong with a bird who is standing on one leg; they do this while resting and will frequently shift from one leg to the other.

Don't feel bad about leaving your bird alone, they do quite well on their own for a few hours. If you're concerned that she is bored or lonely when you leave, turn on some music or the television for her.

You're a special person to be so caring and concerned for your feathered friend.

I dont think there is anything wrong with your wee budgie, standing on one leg is the sign of a contented relaxed bird, bringing up seeds like this sounds as if she's regurgitating it possibly for you. I have an african grey who does this when I'm at the cage. I'd be more worried if she wasn't eating at all. She may be going into a moult which can leave a bird feel a bit washed out.

theres nothing abnormal with your budgie standing on one leg. they do that when they are cold. the fact that she is not chattering might mean that she is not getting enough sunlight. to solve both these problems try putting her near a window seal. this will give her heat from the sun light and well light. that should solve those problems about the regergetating tho...you might want to see a vet about that. if you have any other questions you can email me. i have 2 budgies my self, and they are both happy and healthy.

no it is not serious trust me i have over a 100 budgies. If you give them a mirror they bond to the mirror image of hem self not to you. She is also trying to signle she wants to lay eggs with her mirror image. Also take out any bed because she might feel like she has to lay eggs that will never hatch without a mate.

Hi I breed budgies and when mine are doing what you described I give them a hot water bottle with a cloth around the cage letting a bit of air in and a drop of calpol (3+months sugar free) in their mouth with a drop of water Change the hot water bottle every 3 hours.

In a few days or so they should feel alot better.

Standing on one leg means that they are sleepy they sleep on one leg.

Hope this helps.

leave the cage open and shut all doors and windows i strongly advise you to get her a companion, standing on one leg is perfectlly natural, remember birds are not in there natural inviroment in a cage so make sure she has as much freedom as possible, if youre worried about mess get a goldfish ive been a bird keeper for 23 years i hope this has helped
