Very, very true. Sometimes you have to be persistent with such people or you'll never really meet them. Usually they thaw after a little while. Beware of just plain antisocial people, though. They may never thaw...

True, absolutely true. If they open their mouths they are afraid they will say something wrong. So good guys zip this lip and stay single for decades.

Yes, especially in men. It is a protective barrier we build to avoid getting hurt. Shy guys are usually sensitive as well, and when we open up and are rejected, it teaches us that it's less painful to reject people before they reject us.
