You can say anything you want, but I would find it offensive if a woman asked be to quit smoking so she could date me. The only time someone will quit smoking is when THEY ARE READY. That's like me having a crush on a chubby girl at work and me telling her I would date her if she would stop shoveling junk food into her face because I think THAT is gross.

K smoking is the coolest thing in the world to do.. im 25 people so no im not 12... you dont have any right to say anything, just like these freaks in the local governments and now State governments don't have any right to say anything... So what if he smoke's its not your right to tell him how to live until your married. just talk to him damn! you act like smoking is some sort of disese or somthing that your going to catch at the mear mention of the word.
this answer below me is the gayest answer ive ever heard on here.. and i've heard some gay answer's.. nobody give's a sh.it about how smoking makes you feel you geek.

Why don't you get to know him first? When you say he flirts, do you mean just with you so he may like you too?
Sorry about your Mum.
Maybe if you hit it off and you get to know each other better, you could approach the smoking thing then? I'm a smoker, by the way.
Happy New Year.

Who says smokers don't care about health? Some do, but the addiction is stronger. Any way, for inspiration maybe you should visit your doctor and mention to him that you've been a smoker but you're concerned about your health... maybe that will get you a lung x-ray and you can check out the damage you've already done.... you might be surprised. Any way, being a former smoker myself I can understand the cravings, but about 5% of the time it smells good... the other 95% it stinks. Just stay strong through the cravings and they will pass. Finding something to occupy your thoughts when going through a craving help...it'll pass before you know it.

Lightly flirt with him back for fun if you want, but guard your heart and flirt only; he's probably NOT the one for you. There are many other men out there.
Be sure to tell him that you bet he'd get a lot more girls if he didn't smoke. It'll probably sting him a little, the comment may nag at him. He might take the hint, he might be a little hurt; regardless, its good for him to hear.

Remember this Sweetheart, your going to be sucking in his second hand smoke, that's worse then his first hand smoke.
I was around several people over the Christmas holidays that smoked, they kept running out for that precious smoke, it was raining, it was cold, they didn't care and, formed there own little clique of "smokers, about three" the smell was horrendous everytime they came in. One lady had to plug in to, and unplug her oxygen, every time to go out and come in. Her son helped her because she was "getting old" he said but, she made it out for that "smoke"

Your right it would be rude of you to say something to him about his smoking. If your really interested in this guy, go for it.
In time you could bring up your mothers death & why she died, then he will have the information and possabily quit.
Good Luck.

if its just a crush, then don't like tell him he has to stop smoking now, just say you think its gross and dangerous. if you were together then you would have the right to say i don't want you to smoke, because its putting you in danger, but other then that, id say no.

Don't stress. Tell him that you really like him but he might have to calm down on the smoking deal. That's what my mom's bf told my mom and now they are getting a new house for us and are getting married.
