If this car was on the road, registered and the person you got it from had it properly registered, it is a normal transaction just like any other car. The reason it is a salvage title is to let the prospective buyer know it has had something serious happen to it. I have done this in California twice. It is no big deal and I had to do no special inspection other than smog device. Some states do require a safety inspection, some don't Good luck

That depends upon the state. In some, you just go through the normal process. In others (sucn as CA) it needs to be inspected for roadworthiness before you can register and title it in your name and operate it on public roads. Contact your DMV for assistance.

Take the properly signed and notarized title to whatever office in your area handles such things, and ask. They will walk you through the procedure. In some states it will have to be inspected and certified road-worthy before you can drive it.
