Of course the war isn't over. In fact, I see a no-win situation. Thank you President Shrubby. This is Vietnam all over again.

Notice how all the Radical Conservatives are trying to defend the technicality of Bush's speech; while there have been more deaths, both U.S. and Iraqi, AFTER the "Mission Accomplished" speech.
This was around the time when Bush blended the War in Iraq with the War in Afghanistan as the same war: the War on Terror.
Whatever anybody ever says...The Iraq War was never and will never be the "War on Terror" that we are fighting, and should be fighting stronger in Afghanistan. Bush is an evil liar and all his supporters are either racist or stupid.

Who remembers Kosovo? It's over too, right? Which is why my brother just got home from an 18 month deployment over there. This is why I laugh at Democrats and Republicans shifting blame back and forth - it doesn't matter which party was in power when something like this gets started, it's your average GI who winds up getting stuck with the mess.
Anytime we go into an inherently unstable area and get involved in it, our troops end up staying to "promote stability" or some such thing. So even if the war is over, if there is continued fighting we can expect troops to be deployed for an indefinite number of years.

No, that speech was indeed just a declaration that major operations were over. But don't think for a second that it was just the dems taking the wrong message away. I distinctly remember voters being asked if they voted Rep and why in 2004 and there were plenty saying "because Bush won the war and kept the terrorists in iraq" obviously they came to the same conclusion as the dems.

The "Mission" was accomplished. That meant the toppling of a leader in Iraq. If you really cared to here all of that speech that day, never said the war against terror was over.

No. Major operations were over. The Libs are still trying to pull what he said out of context just like you are trying to start another Bush fire...
