for a common man to understand tv technology is diffiult. all looks amost similar.Rather in my old square Tv picture look more natural. in liniar tv the picture look flat. shoulders look flat,face look flat ! Really i am confused.

the guy above does not know what hes talking about. not everything is hd . only specific channels are hd and then only certain programs are made in hd. if you are watching somthing and it says brodcast in hd it is not in hd unless you are watching a designated hd channel. usually the really high channel #s,. and you do not want a projection no matter what kind it is. lcd projection,dlp, they have projection bulbs that blow like a light bulb. every 3000 to 5000 hours, thats about 3-5 years. and you have to replace them.for about $300-500 a pop, and sometimes they are really hard to find, and you might have to pay a tv technician to replace( i bet the guy who sold him that big phillips didnt tell him that). the plasmas and lcd flat panel will last well more that 60000 hours thats about 15-25 years of constant use. and the plasmas have the best natural color reproduction. but all will be wide screen. over all the best and most reliable is the old crt tube tvs they are tride and tru although heavy and only go up to certain sizes. next i would pick plasma then lcd flat panel. either way dont buy at bjs or walmart . go to a store thatknows allot about tvs, and dont but the cheapest one they have ,this is an investment that you will spend years watching. get a name brand that you trust.ie panasonic hitachi sony toshiba , some others like phillips mitsubishi

I know this one. I bought a Phillips 60 inch at B J's two days ago for $1250. Great picture with rear projection, not plasma. Everything is H.D. now anyways, but plasma is hard to fix without just replacing.
