Bringing pup back from spain?

Hi,i just recently purchased a pup here in spain i would like to bring her back to the UK at some point.
Does anyone know the rules and regulations of bringing a dog back to the UK from Spain?

Two options;-
pets passport, which you start preparing at least six months in advance, or six months quarantine.
