Yes a yellow light is very necessary, it cautions drivers to slow down, so they are able to stop in enough of time, with out slamming into the car ahead. Especially 18 wheeler trucks, they have brakes that do not stop as fast, so always give the truckers room enough to stop, and even more so when a truck is loaded.Best wishes and Happy Holidays.

Of course it's necessary. Yellow lets motorists know the light is about to change. Without it and with a direct change to red, cars would be hurtling through intersections and into cars with the green signal. Can you imagine driving along at 35 mph about 100 feet from an intersection when all of a sudden the light goes from green to red? Try slamming your brakes on in that short amount of distance, then prepare to be hit from behind.

Yes the yellow light is needed! You would not know when the light is going to turn red w/out the yellow light notifying you of when it's going to turn red!

If Iam not mistaken you're saying about signal lights on the road and if so, there is no separate signals for two/ four wheelers at most of the places. n, you might've noticed the yellow lights up just after the green. this is to slow down as the red signal follows.
