Is it also a symptom of bad health or diet?
Is there any way to reverse and/or repair the effects?

I always get grey hairs and I am not even 25! If you ever get one, pull it out-it is much thicker/coarser than the rest of your hair. I am not sure if it is a symptom of a bad diet because for me it is STRESS!

Not necessarily. There are many reasons why hair may become coarse. Turning gray does not always cause hair to coarsen. Mine didn't.
Some races have coarser hair than others. Sometimes chemo causes hair to grow back coarse.
No, there doesn't seem to be any remedy for changing coarse hair to non-coarse hair.

the hair and the finger and toe nails get the nutrients last. vital organs first. so bad hair, skin and nails denote inaduquet nutrients. so eat well...and hair get coarser with gray....no way to change that one...except clairol..lol

i think age is not the only factor,it has something to do with too much exposure to heat and wind and in some countries ,the cold winter and also using shampoos that are too harse to your hair.And still one more: diet ,remember the saying " you are what you eat?'

unfortunately it does. Hair coarseness can be a symptom of malnutrition or it might happen after a surgery also.

i don't think you can change it/ i'm 24 and have had a couple of grey hairs. i eat well and drink lots of water ....maybe it is stress?!!

I know grey hair is course and you get that as you age......
