I think it comes from the fact that people want to feel superior. So many people want to be "better" than everyone else, and since no one can prove anything about religion, they say theirs is the only true one. It gives them a feeling of superiority that they're "right" and other people are "wrong".

But I think in some cases it's also driven by fear. I know people who react badly to anything that's not their own religion, because they're scared of what they don't understand. They look at another religion and because it's different and they don't know anything about it, they say that it must be "wrong".

They don't even try to learn about other religions, because they think that if they do, they might find something that makes them question their own faith. So they bury their heads in the sand and say with absolute conviction that their religion is "right" and if you aren't with them, you're against them and you're "wrong".

Once people are like that, they won't listen to reason. It's sad, but I don't see it changing any time soon.

actually we do not argue about proper behavior. We all agree on most all the rights and wrongs. Some give more emphasis on the dos and some emphasize the don'ts but on behavior we pretty much agree. We argue about useless ideas like the trinity and eternal security and such.

The moment people realize that God is not a religion. God is and always will be God. A name change or characteristics will not change God.

All we have to do is stop being selfish and see the truth for what it is and not what we "make of it so that it can benefit us"

Those who see the truth will see God and those who see God see the truth. How many of us have seen God or Jesus??????????????
