To get a cat to like you, you have to act a little like a cat. For starters, don't act very interested in them. Sit there reading a book near them for a while, and maybe then make your move. Many cats bond with humans while playing with toys. Laser pointers, peacock feathers, store bought toys or whatever, they actually do know that you are the one to control it and if they like the toy, they just might start to like you.
Food is another good way. I have a cat that didn't like me until she learned that food=human and human=food. I also have another cat that plays a silly game. She hates to be touched for some reason or another, and never bonded with humans until I began picking her up and forcefully (but not painfully) petting her on repeated occasions. Eventually this came to be the way that we bonded, with me chasing her around playfully and her acting like she hates it but really you can tell she enjoys it.
Really every cat is different and you should experiment with different approaches.

Nothing. Cats have a mind of their own.

Play with your cat. Give him some treets. Buy him some toys. Spent a lot of time with him.

cats are finicky, you cant make them like you, they just have to learn to like you. you need to teach your cat that it can trust you. i had gotten a cat when i was 15 from a waitress at a restaurant. i didn't know her or her animal. she wanted to get rid of it and i wanted one. when she brought "Misty" to my house, she hid all the time. after about 2 weeks she started to stick around more. we wouldn't try to force our love on her, and she learned to love us. we would trick her like we had a treat wriggling in our hands and when she approached us, we would let her "sniff us out". we would gently stroke her head and usually give her a yummy treat. if she walked away, we let her. we wouldn't chase her or pick her up when uninvited. she eventually loved me and followed me around like a dog. she even used to sleep under the covers with my husband and i. just give her time and respect her. you'd want the same treatment,

regretfully almost nothing, since cats (unlike dogs) decide themselves when and to whom they "socialize"
