" Three more American soldiers were killed in Iraq, officials said Tuesday, pushing the U.S. military death toll to at least 2,975 — two more than the number killed in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks."

Has it been worth it?

I had hoped that every answer would have been -

EVERY service personnels life HAS been worth it.

They go into any conflict selflessly, and knowing what the worst scenario could be.

What they NEED from EVERY Joe/Jane Public, is thier support for what they are doing there - ie, thier job... so that the likes of you or I can go about our daily business in relative peace, and continue to enjoy the 60+ years of Peace our Fore-Fathers fought for.

Instead, they get this daily bikering and arguing by people .

THEY DO NOT NEED THIS FROM YOU.

It's bad enough they have to put up with the drivel from Politicians on a daily basis interfering instead of letting them get on with the job they have been well trained to do, and paid for by our hard earned taxes.

As for the media.. don't even go there !

I'm sure you are aware of UK troops being issued with flak jackets that can't even stop a small arms bullet?that's if they are lucky enough to get issued with body armour at all

If our troops didn't have to fight the media along with the insurgents, they'd be home and there would have been fewer casualties.

If America were united in this war, we would have been able to get in and get out with fewer casualties. When the president has to deal with the antics of the press, Micheal moores, Cindy Sheehans and the people that pay them, his focus is drawn away from finishing the job. So many of our men have died because of the people that hate the President so much that they don't want him to have any credit when the war is over.

During WWII, our country was united and the press wasn't ALLOWED to report what they do now. They weren't allowed to tell the enemies secrets. Almost any man that could, went in the military. Many many lives were lost and our country was united. I don't meet many men over 80 that aren't Veterans. I am working with Veteran's every day, and every single one of them is a hero. A true hero. Go volunteer at a veteran's hospital and talk to those men & women. I feel honored and blessed when I am around them. They have made America what it is today.

Iraq isn't presenting any real problems. Washington is. And I am shocked that so many people think the war is in Iraq. It isn't. Had you been paying attention, President Bush told us that long ago. And it has nothing to do with oil. If it did, we'd just override California's objections and drill off the Pacific coast.
For over a decade we have been in a fourth-generation war. If you don't recognize the term, I promise you need to research it before you think of forming an opinion on the war. The war is world-wide, and we cannot negotiate or contain the enemy. We have to fight a fourth-generation war or we will lose, and that loss will be felt here, not in some remote area away from home. It will last at least another ten years, more likely thirty, and there will be casualties. Numbers like those in the question have no relevance at all. Yes, the administration have screwed up. And the leadership of both parties in Congress have acted criminally. We have too few infantrymen, way to few trained in 4th generation war, a horrible mismatch of equipment we have vs. the equipment we need, and no way to correct those errors quickly. But the thing we lack most is vision. If we don't recognize what kind of fight we're in, how can we decide how to fight it?

I am over here and have talked to the "real" local people....ask them...they cry over all our soldier's deaths as they have cried over all the useless deaths of their loved ones under Saddam's regime. MOST people here are our allies and love our country and what we are doing and hate to see any more people die as do I. If all the armchair specialists in the USA would boycott CNN and other traitorous news media and their terrorist support, this would be all over yesterday. They are the only reason the terrorists still fight...negative news coverage tryint to sway the liberal US public, erode our beliefs, and put our heads in the sand....it makes me sick. You people make me sick.

Are you all serious?

Is it worth it?

What price are you willing to pay to stop an enemy? do you all (the ones who think this is about oil and America is the aggressor) really think that the enemy wants to negotiate? do you really think that no one in Iraq was being persecuted and killed by a blood thirsty tyrant? You don't think this war is not being pushed by another bloodthirsty government (Iran) who's sole purpose in this is to kill Americans and disrupt the chances of Iraq being free?

Go back to your lattes and your sheltered little lives where flowers and gumdrops can bring world peace, let the realists take care of the problems OK? it will make it easier to actually accomplish what needs to be done.

I don't have opinions on the whole thing, I just hope it all works out for everyone. I simply just don't have enough information to know who is right or wrong or whats really going on, somewhere someone knows whats happening and maybe they know better then me. These soldiers that died deserve to be remembered, same with the other side. Merry Xmas.

I'm going to answer this question with a question even though I was always taught not to do so. Are the naysayers suggesting that we just cut our losses and run? What would be the outcome of inaction? Not the answer you're looking for, but something to think about.

my opinion is that we should get the heck out of there lets face they will hate us weather we help of not we give them 1 mil. they want 2mil. we give them 2 mil. they want 4 mil. et cetera what is the point any more the death rating is 2 over a terrorist attack before we lose any more we should get the heck out of there

on the flip side if we do get the heck out of there that hole middle east is going to turn into a uninhabited area the us is the only thing keeping the middle east alive

it is a compromise but i think that we should get out of there its not our problem that the middle east is a trouble-some area
