No one is indispensable in the earth. But some are important in the organization, firstly for portfolio and for work value.

A good employee is punctual, honest, industrious and always in to-do-mentality. Leadership quality is very valuable and rare. To earn this quality person should have positive mentality to take any responsibility, decision making and clean judgment ability.

All humans are mortal, and so no one can be indispensible!
If you wish to go up the ladder in your company, impress your bosses by sincere hard work, acquire additional skills within the company and outside (like higher education), show that you can be trusted and dependable, are willing to accept challenges and come out successfully.
Above all, demonstrate the your business would find it hard or very expensive to find a replacement for you.

Do something that nobody else can do or at least least do it much better than somebody else can do and don't tell people what your secret is (if any) to keep yourself above all others.
