It's never too early to start basic training, start now! House training is best started now, only use the garden until she's fully vaccinated though. When you're teaching basic commands, make sure training sessions are short and fun, puppies have the attention span of a gnat! Have a look around for good training classes, ones which teach according to the kennel club good citizens scheme are great. your puppy will also get essential socialisation as well as good manners!
As far as your older dog goes, make sure they are not left alone together for a while and make introductions gradually. As far as possible let them sort out their own heirarchy in the house. Your older dog will need to tell the puppy off occasionally as it will probably be fairly annoying while very young, if possible try not to interfere too much as you'll cause confusion. If your older dog is mounting cushions it could be frustration or a display of dominance. If he's still entire, be VERY careful when your puppy has her first season, maybe consider getting them both neutered?

The best time is right now. Always use a reward based method, and ignore rather than punish unwanted behaviour. You also need to start socialising with animals and people as soon as possible, as the window for experience socialisation bgins to close at about 12 weeks. It is natural for your other dog to be jealous. Do not allow the puppy to annoy him, and if he bosses her around, unless he actually injures her do not interfere- this is part of dog society and people trying to liberate dogs from the shackles of oppression just creates more problems. He is the best way for her to learn doggy discipline- growling and barking are normal. EG if she comes near his food and he growls, this is quite normal. Eventually, they will establish a pecking order, and all will be well, but there will be a period of adjustment.

You can train a dog from any age, the earlier the better really. As for your older dog, the hormones From your pups mum will still be in her system as pups aren't supposed to be separated until they are 8 weeks old and the smell of this will be confusing him. If you haven't already done so, it may be worth getting him neutered, especially as when she gets older and starts to come into season, he will probably get more protective and may even turn a little funny. Hope this helps?

You should start training any dog as soon as you have it - but where did you get it from? Six weeks is a bit young to be away from her mother.
As for the older dog, well, he probably is jealous of the new arrival. He used to have all of your attention and now is unlikely go be getting half of it. If you show lots of love to him, believe it or not, he will teach your pup the ropes! Our old collie cross used to 'nose' a newer arrival off the pavement to do his business!

Puppy training can begin the minute you bring your pup home. for example teaching it simple words like its name and "no". It is never too early to start!
Your other dog is after attention, try not to leave it out, pay it loads of attention maybe when your pup is taking a nap, it will soon start to realise it doesnt have to be jealous!

Get your older dog neutered to stop this behaviour.
Simple training can begin as soon as you have your puppy with short commands and lots of praise. Don't let puppy get all the attention or your older dog will suffer. Take puppy. after vaccinations, to puppy socialisation classes.
