Please don't feel offended but do dark complexion people (not the natives) live in Australia, especiallly Perth? I am asking so because I am a dark complexioned person and I want to immigrate to Australia especially Perth or Brisbane or Melbourne.

Melbourne is the safest for you on the East coast if you want to be surrounded by the highest amount of darker complexioned people.

Perth... is beautiful, as for dark complexioned people it's really similar to Brisbane however Perth is more beautiful.

Sydney is always a happy medium.

However dark complexion in Australia is not a problem as sun tanning is popular, people also use fake tan most of the year, everyone wants to be darker than what they are. So, if you have olive skin you will fit in anywhere.

I don't think Australia has alot of racist skin colour tension it's mostly religious tension IF any tension exists.

I would highly recommend Melbourne as it's the most multi-cultural peaceful city of all as far as inter-racial living goes :D

Edit: I had to comment as far as racial tension goes, I'm Australian and my family have been in Australia since the convicts. Now I'm a white European background but have natural black hair, numberous times I did hear "go back to your own country" .. however half the time this was said to me by German and Russian blonde IMMIGRANTS... LOL.. I find the immigrants the most racist. So I did end up bleaching my hair blonde as a teen and all was fine BUT when I do go back to my natural black hair I myself find I fit into the Melbourne city most easily, Sydney also however Melbourne is more laid back. So that's the honest truth from personal experience. I had to comment as I am 1000% Aussie and I get racist remarks ONLY due to having dark hair.

Perth is by far the most racist place I have ever been. Perth people are shocking. Alot of Ozzies in general are particularly racist towards their own indigenous race, which is sooooo offensive to me. It hurts my being. I am dark and live in Perth, but am moving East next year cause I hate this place. I have stayed in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney and Melbourne. Never encountered anywhere near as much racism.

In response to comments below: Perth is not a country. Great times on the East Coast...Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast and yes I have considered moving from Perth, just waiting for that house to go up and then I'm out with the money in the new year. You will never change my mind as I have experienced too much of it first hand.

Melbourne is the city that you want to go to. Good food, hardworking people and good shopping too. Good luck with your travels!

Come to perth. it is a gr8 city, despite wat ppl mite say. there is always competition between the eastern states and western australia.

i have been to both brisbane and melbourne. brisbane is a nice place, friendly ppl etc but i dont recall seeing that many dark complexion ppl there (no where near as much as perth).

Melbourne is a nice place. beautiful buildings, great places to go but, the city is full of smoke coz every1 there seems to smoke. its disgusting walking up the street and all u smell is cigaratte smoke. yeh its gr8 if ur a smoker but if u aint, then its terrible.

if u want to, maybe u could spend time in each of the 3 cities and see which u prefer. just a suggestion.

I live in Perth, West Australia, and yes we do have dark complexioned people living here. Perth is one of the friendliest places on earth. Fremantle 15 miles from Perth has been chosen by the US Navy as one of the friendliest ports in the world. At the moment it is summer with hot days, very little rain (driest continent) perfect for the beach. I have travelled quite extensively and wouldnt live anywhere else in the world. I hope this helps you make up your mind.

people on here are being judgemental by saying Perth people are racist. That is not the case at all. Just there are less immigrants of a darker colour there than in Sydney and melbourne.
Australians are not racist there will always be some however in any country you go to. There are a number of black people in Perth, i have met.
But if you are that worried, maybe Sydney or Melbourne would be best there are more people of a darker colour and it is very muticultural.

Kim C, if you hate Australia so much, have you considered moving back to your home country? Instead of insulting your adopted one?

Strangely, many White Britons and White South Africans prefer to live in Perth. Why? Maybe because they like enclaves. Quite ironic, considering that Asians and other non-white minorities are criticised for living in enclaves.

There are many Africans and Indonesians in Perth, as it is our nearest major city. Indians are in all our capital cities. Your appearance will not surprise anyone. As alluded to above we do have a (vocal) racist minority but most of us are happy to have you.

Dude, we do not care what colour you are, we judge people on what they do or dont do, not by how they look.

Please do not be offended but are you from the USA ?
