First I would say that being the wife of a police officer you hear the worst of the worst and that is all, you don’t here about the other 99.8% of the public that nothing ever happens to, but I'm sure you already know that and it crosses your mind as the fear sets in. This would be the basis for this fear to be present in your mind however it is also the reason to classify it as irrational.

I would guess that this fear is based in a fear of death (secondary to a more surface reason) you can find some sort of comfort in reinforcing whatever religious belief you happen to have. There are 2 opposing forces here (keep in mind these are likely 2ndary), 1: the fear raises question as to your conviction in those beliefs, reinforce them or find those that fit you better. This is not easy; it’s the unanswerable question of religion of faith.
2: this is the conflict, your protective drive as a mother may overcome and conflict with your religious beliefs concerning death and afterlife. This would once again involve reinforcing your religious believes so that the philosophical (religion) higher brain function overcomes the lower instinctual (protection of children)brain function.

What may be a primary cause for this fear may be somewhat offensive to you. This involves the typical lack of mental health of those in law enforcement in areas that do not require mental health screening, their issues with control and how those that are attracted to them react in the absence of the control that these individuals irrationaly attempt to exert over everything in their environment.
These are general assumptions based off of what is typical of these symptoms and may not pertain to you. Whatever the cause, if this is effecting your sleep on a regular basis (more than 2-3 times a month) then it is effecting your quality of life and that of your children and family. If this is the case then you need to see a health care professional and begin to resolve the issue for your own sake and for that of your family.

i think you have bad memories from your childhood or childhood fears you thought u got over but deep inside you didn't, and i also think you know the best person to talk 2 to help u. I'm not saying a psychiatrist even though it might help but maybe a friend or relative maybe your parents which ever one your really close to and open up 2 your childhood fears. but don't leave it at that because you must find a way to get over them i.e the Bogey man. how unreal is that when you think maturely about it. my childhood fear is a skeleton walking past my door, which turned into someone in the Attic which turned into a mental guy with wacky eyes looking into my window. see how i traced it back, then i realised how unreal is it 4 a skeleton 2 walk past my open bedroom door at night. after constantly thinking that i finally didn't worry about the noises and eery shadows outside. my counsellor also told me to check under me bed, in my cupboards, out the window and any other place i was worried about and even though i know everything is locked but to check everything again. AND IT WORKED. it really does work. i also think your even more scared because your kids mean everything to u. which i respect u for.

Maybe you could increase the security around your house. Put locks on your windows and dead locks on your doors, increase the outside lighting around your house, and get video surveillance. Then just make sure you lock everything before you go to sleep. You could also try some relaxation exercises before going to sleep, like meditation.

Your problem is that you listen to to many stories from your husband.Big chances are that no one will break into your house is that your husband is a cop.And you have 5 CHILDREN.Who wants a women with 5 kids. And also you have a lot of ears in that house to listen also. Get a dog, there a lot cheaper than children.

Install alarms and locks in your house, I usually make pyramids of canned food in front of my doors so that i am aware of it if someone break into my house, and before it gets dark inthe afternoon, make sure you've locked everywhere.

You're 27 and you already have 5 children? Those noises grandma hears are probably her grandchildren tearing up the house.

people in my business employer are experiencing login issues. That gave me an excellent headache. maximum of them of unswerving Yahoo customers and have Yahoo as their default browser. however, from April 9, 2007, lots of the customers have issues beginning off the default web site of Yahoo web site. interim, in basic terms one or 2 of the customers ought to log into their Yahoo mail bills. besides, lots of Yahoo's hyperlinks are no longer working or no longer working appropriate. that's extraordinary. absolutely everyone knows why?

have another relative to stay with you for the meantime.if there really is someone trying to get in, might as well find another place safe for you and your kids.
