Any good Reccomendations for colleges in the bay area?(sf, san jose?)?

stanford in palo alto is the top of the heap but it is real hard to get into. instead you might want to consider the local Univ of CA schools like UC Berkeley which has all kinds of great programs and UC Santa Cruz which is strong in the physical sciences (especially astrophysics and geology), social sciences and bioinformatics. Santa Clara U is well regarded as well but is a private school. you could also consider San Jose State or San Francisco State as lower tier options depending on your needs.
