To fuel their feeling of superiority. Some folks who can't see past themselves, can only feel better by the illusion of being better than someone else. Someone already blue can be an easy target.

Well, some people are just plain cruel. I have no better explanation for it, other than the dynamics of the schoolyard -- the bully is usually a coward who is trying to prove he is not a coward. Watch the initial appearance of the Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz for a classic example.
Rowr rowr, you gotta believe I'm a tough guy or you may find out I'm afraid of you.
However pitiable the reasons why bullies get that way, they certainly do learn how to wound people emotionally. Just try to remember that the person has a real personality problem, and discount whatever he or she says.

some people like easy targets because they are weak themselfs and could not stand up to someone in a better state of mind. Generaly though I would say that when someone is hurting, their defenses have already been penatrated and are unusualy sensitive, things that would usualy just roll off their back (things that are often intended as jokes and not intended to injure or unintentional) cut to the quick, causeing the injured to assume (in a defensive state of mind) that the injury was intended.

People are closed minded 'creatures' sorry for that word. A lot of people don't seem to look into what's going on in other people's lives because they are thinking solely about their own problems... sometimes you just need to sit there and say you must have a pretty crappy life to be raggin on me like that.... Don't worry so much about it hun, they won't get any better until something hits them and they get a little respect and decency....

It might be failure to identify with that person. Maybe it's because they feel bad and have no way to show it so they pick on them for attention. I think people get confused sometimes when they see someone else hurting. Usually they take out their confusion on the person that caused it.

Cause it's easiest to start from the bottem and people think they are doing the person a favor until they wake up one day as a clone of themselves.

if someone wants to be in a certain emotional place, we arent obligated to move them. if someone wants to hurt, let em hurt. if someone wants to be happy, let them be happy
