A birthmark is a blemish on the skin formed before birth. They are part of the group of skin lesions known as naevi. The cause of birthmarks is unknown, but may include cellular damage due to radiation or chemicals. Some types seem to run in families.

It is obviously a biological and physiological and physical phenomenon, probably not to be appropriately answered by a pastor, unless the pastor is also a dermatologist.

Why would we not have birth marks? Humans are humans even if they are newly born humans with flaws. Perfect is an eventual destination, but you and I have many lives to live before we are anywhere near perfection.
There are several principles that I have discovered that bare on your question. First, "We humans all make it, to well being, or none of us do." Second, the twelve year old that died in the airplane his father was flying and trying to land in Concord CA a couple of days ago will live again and again, because we all have been the slave master, the slave and the murdered and the murderer.
In a full life time which includes many deaths, we will all be the poor and the rich. You name it, and we will be that and the opposite before we finally rest.
We are The Christian, The Jew, The Islamic, and The Hindu, The Buddhist and the Agnostic and The non-believer and the Seer. We are in the Pantheon and barred from the Pantheon. We are executed and forgiven.
As humans, we must be everything that humans can be, or we will forever drop the bone into the creek mugging for the mirror.
Relax Brother, we are here and our dust will all be mingled.

Perhaps it would have been better to ask your doctor. I'm certainly not one, but I do know that babies can be marked during birth...it's a tough trip for some, and back when forceps were more popular, they made some marks. Others are just congenital skin discolorations, and I suppose that your DNA would determine how the melanin in the skin would behave in different areas.

Not sure this is a religous question, but I'll try to answer. Birthmarks are typically caused by the presence of blood vessels close to the surface of the skin. There are several different types of birth marks, but it typically is the result of blood vessels being present near the top layer of skin.

This is a religious question?

I actually have no idea, but I'll file this under the millions of questions that stump pastors, but not doctors.

Birthmarks or "nevi" are discolorations due to anomalies in the embryonic development of the skin, especially those affecting the blood vessels of the subcutaneous layer in small or wide areas. They are not thought to be intrauterine pressure marks but the precise cause is unknown. They affect all races and both genders equally. Some disappear as the child grows while some (like Gorbachev's) remain into adulthood. They have descriptive names like "strawberry", "spider" and "port wine stain" and some can be removed surgically.

It is said that when a women is pregnant, she has craving for certain types of food, each women is different as to what she craves, if at the time of her craving what she craves is not available and the mother touches any part of body at that point, the baby will have a birthmark in that area. I know of one girl that craved strawberries, she was unable to get them and touched her face at the time of her request. Her baby was delivered with a strawberry patch on your cheek, where her mother had touch herself during her pregnancy. Catholic Girl

What it is saying is that there is absolutely no reason why a husband can allow this situation to occur, he must be there for her to make sure she is has everything she needs during her pregnancy, if he has to work during certain time that there are family and friends to be there for her/me during this time.

A birthmark has nothing to do with religion. It is simply a skin imperfection. But in God's new system, those who survive will fulfill God's original plan and grow towards perfection, in body and health. Rev. 21;4

We all have birthmarks? Where is mine? I didn't get a Birthmark! That is it! I want a birthmark now! How much would it cost to get a birthmark stenciled or tattood to my butt or wherever it is supposed to be? (where is it supposed to be?)
Next thing to ask your pastor is if belly buttons are a sign of original sin.
