This is because during long trips, a person is just sitting down and there is no body exercise. When a person keeps on moving like exercising, the gastrointestinal also moves. The more you exercise, the better because the contents in your intestines move down until it reaches the colon. When it is already in the colon near its end, that is the time you will feel the urge that you will need to go to CR. Long trips hinder movement of the digestive tract that is why you don't easily get hungry while on trips. It is best you do some walking or some other exercise to encourage your digestive system to move. This is a little abnormal if you can't move bowel for a long time. But if after the trip, it became normal again, there's nothing to worry.

could be stress, the change in diet while your away from home, hydration or yes, even being nervous about using strange bathrooms.
When I was 15 a school group took a trip from Wisconsin to Kentucky for an outdoor concert festival thingy....it was kind of like woodstock where everyone camps out on the concert grounds and there were a bunch of bands....point being that our only bathroom facilities were outhouses that were shared with about 2000 other people. I literally didn't use the bathroom in any way, shape or form for almost 4 complete days. I was drinking a fair amount and eating a fair amount and to this day believe that my brain just shut everything down because it didn't want to have to go into those disgusting dirty smelly outhouses.
I don't think its anything to worry about as long as it doesn't cause you any pain or cramping and clears itself up within 4 days or so.

Its probably because you are nervous and don't want to use a strange bathroom. I would always get this when I went camping, I hated using the stinky outhouse!
Make sure you do alot of movement (such as walking) and twisting to keep things moving :)

I think this is very normal. It always happens to me if I'm staying somewhere that is unfamiliar. I think we are subconsciously 'embarrassed' about doing number two's, particularly if we are staying with someone else. I always like to use my own loo where I can take as Iong as I like and make as many noises as I like and smell as much as I like!!!
