Obviously looking at facts, religious is a farce, totally false. Just look what's become of christianity there are so many sects. protestants, orthodox, roman catholic, ect. and in capitalist economies like the US it is used for commercial purposes. Likewise can be said of Islam, Shia, Sunni, ects, also used for propoganda at times. But nontheless it is interesting to learn where the Heaven-Hell, Good-Evil duel principle began, is it in our nature. Or because tribes in the ancient times were against each other and so they made up things saying the other tribe was evil while their tribe was good, ect.

Both Heaven and Hell were created by God. Hell was created for the devil and his angels. Heaven for those of us who love Jesus.

Concepts of the afterlife are common to almost all religions.

Death is the big mystery, and one of humanity's common traits is to seek to understand what happens after death. Ancient people knew what happened to the body, but they invented all sorts of traditions for what happened to the soul/personality/mind. It's hard to accept that someone's essence could be gone forever.

Another part of it is that people wanted to believe there was some incentive for behaving morally during their lifetime. Most afterlives therefore have places to reward the good and punish the bad, or to annihilate them (as in the ancient Egyptian underworld).

[Your added comments are offensive. The historical Jesus was a social revolutionary--if he lived today, you'd admire him.]

Zi,
I think you have hit on it. Peoples wanted to encourage certain behavior so they created a system of rewards and punishments in the afterlife.
The Romans and Greeks had Hades and Mt. Olympus. The Christians just followed suit.

The bible says no longer something approximately area. The "heavens" contained in the bible have been the areas purely above and below their concept of a flat earth lined by a dome some miles up, wherein "god" opens abode windows to pour down rain, and on ideal of which "god" sits and watches human beings. Calling that "area" is punctiliously incorrect, and extremely stupid. Peace.

The origins of Heaven and Hell are our memories of our afterlife experiences between incarnations. Heaven is modelled after the spirit world and Hell is modelled after the underworld. We travel into our hearts after we die and our minds posses archytpal experiences which they recreate for us during this journey and which manifest according to what we believe we will experience.

So many of us peceive this underworld as Hell and some who believe in Heaven and sincerely believe they deserve to go to Heaven may experiecne Heaven.

Those who believe in Heaven and Hell but are not sure where they belong may end up in Purgatory.

Eventually we awaken from these illusory afterlife experiences and experiecne reality by awaking our divine consciousness and merging with God. Then we may choose to resurrect in any life we have died in, or reincarnate, or to sojourn with our soul mates in the spirit world awhile before choosing to resurrect or reincarnate again.

Your last issue about tribes is about prejudice and hatred and fear and not really related to the origins of our concepts of our afterlife experiences. For more on prejudice see my article: http://tangledintime.blogspot.com/2006/08/prejudice-understanding-racial-and.html
