Hey, i ve been dating a girl for 4 months already however we never actually talk. Recently i think it became a problem because now she is away and on the phone there is only silence. Could you please give me any suggestions about what to talk to her about. I have plenty of topics to talk to her about but i dont know if talking to her about philosophy, politics, history etc is a good choice.

Do those things interest you? Politics, philosophy, history, etc? If so, I definitely suggest you try talking with her about those things. It is important that you share some common interests along the way. If you don't, even when you are together, things will become awkward and stale. What do you have to lose by bringing those things up?
I suggest you make a list of all the topics that interest you, the ones you would like to discuss. Next time you are on the phone with each other, first ask about her day, week, whatever. I also suggest asking more indepth questions, asking her to explain what happened, get her to open up. Once she does this, you will also be able to get some insight into what interests or disinterests her.
After she has spoken about her day, fill her in on yours. Use the list to slip a few topics in. Tell her something interesting you heard on the radio or on tv, on of the things on your list. You may find that you both have some things in common you did not even know about.
If this does not work, if you are still not finding things in common to discuss, it may be time to move on. Think about in 20 years, if you cannot find things to discuss today, you will be bored out of your minds in the future. Good luck!

Well, I wonder what you two might have in common if you never actually talk? Talk to her about things that you enjoy and see if there is a connection. Ask her about her childhood, what she wants to do with her life, what her dream vacation is....

Do you have any common interests? Start there. Ask her questions -- see what other things she likes and try to find out what more you have in common.
