Quite often I remind myself that I am imperfect and that I am lucky to have friends who accept me as I am. When I am feeling judgmental about others, I think, "I can be neurotic and obsessive and they tolerate all my silly insecurities about my boyfriend," which reminds me again, that I have plenty of my own flaws and should not expect perfection in my friends.

depends on the person. Depends on what kind of a sore your flaws are and what theirs are. The best and only way i know of is through humor. If you can't laugh about your flaws you are a very sore person. You must get strong and be respectable. Laugh at yourself and you will be a warm light and many people will respond to you in kind.
This doesnt mean you should start dating a crack head because you have esteem issues regarding your beer gut etc. Be realistic.
There are flaws, and there are major issues you should run away at top speed from. That you are even asking this question on Yahoo Q&A, I tend to think you should stay away from the single mothers with multiple children from different fathers and other heniously complicated situations as such.

You must go to the root of the problem, which is in your head. What are flaws.. Why do you consider them flaws.. Are you really interested in someone that is perfect? Can perfection have flaws..
Perfection is an illusion and if it were real it would be very boring. When you find your significant other, you love them and their flaws. Happiness is a frame of mind and only you can choose to be happy. If your happiness depends on someone else, you will never be happy or you happiness will be short lived. Find someone that you think is interesting enough that you would like to share your happiness with and spend the rest of your life getting to know and you will be one of the luckiest people on earth.

If you really understand yourself then it is nor difficult to under others. Very few of us do know just who we are. We all strive to be what we are not. Even if you think you do not you actually do. We all do.
Patience and tolerance is necessary.
