and start believing in him when they at first did not when something major happens in their life.
Or, different. Why do some people blindly jump into the Christian faith without first finding out if they are spiritually connected to it??
There are so many other Religions out there, and it always boils down to prayings to Jesus when one is not even sure he is the one who did it when the individual had no faith at all to start off with.
This does not mean I have anything against people doing this. I glad people find faith, what they do is fine as long as its ethical.
Its just a question that comes to mind....

Okay... Example.
My father was not religious. He had a Triple by pass and then he starts praying to Jesus and to God everyday.
Why not another religion?
Why do people just jump to christianity instead of searching for that one religion in which they feel more spiritually connected to.
Now, dont tell me Christians are Spiritually connected to their faith.
I think a good percent of the people in the christian religion are controled by manipulation of fear, or they are just blinded.

I honestly think it is better just to pray to God, instead of naming a spacific deity to a religion.
That way it gives you room to search for the religion youfeel the happiest with.
Im glad you found something that works pleasentflower :)

Guess what...I'm jumping away FROM christianity and looking elsewhere! I'm looking at christianity with an open mind and it's not making sense to me! So I'm looking at something that does actually make sense!
Anyways, I've started praying TO God without going thru Jesus...and it feels a heck lot better! Now I feel as though my prayers are going directly to God!

This is a difficult question to answer. I will not go into too much detail, but i will tell you this:
Sometimes, people just feel moved or called by God (Jesus), and that is why they believe. They feel His presence. Or maybe they have seen God act in their lives. They know that something happened because of Him.
Sometimes, when people are trying to figure out if God is really there, they'll pray to Him and say something like, "God, if you're there, then cause a stranger to come up and talk to me on the bus today. And then I'll know You're there." Not big, amazing things. Just little things like that. They'll do it a few times, or many times. And when God answers their prayers repeatably, they will see that it couldn't be a coincidence that all of those things happened...
I hoe that I have been of some help...

I really don't know, but it sure is NOT a waste of time to pray. Perhaps when it is a life-or-death situation people begin to realize that they are not invincible. Of course, when people begin to realize that, they begin to lean towards the only One who can truly help them. For those who do not acknowledge Jesus the Christ as God, go here:

Of course, in the Trinity, Jesus Christ is not the Father, but neither is the Father the Son. God bless you!
Note: As to the previous answerer who said that she had stopped praying in the name of Jesus, answer me this: are you perfectly holy that you may come before the Lord God Almighty, the Alpha and the Omega, the Creator of all things, on your own two feet? Can YOU forgive your sins? No. Before Jesus came, the Jews would offer up animal sacrifices so that they might be atoned for. But it was not eternal forgiveness, as the blood of goats and rams cannot eternally forgive sin. Now, Jesus Christ has become our sacrifice, the only way that we can come before the Father. We cannot come on our own so-called "righteousness", or "holiness", or even our own "good deeds". Yeah right. It is ONLY by the name of Jesus Christ that we can be forgiven, made holy, and come before the Father. I hope that this helps anyone who is curious, God bless!
John 16:24 NIV
Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.
John 14:6
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Isaiah 64:6
All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away.
Hebrews 10:4
because it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
Hebrews 10:10
...we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

I'm not sure I understand. If you believe that Jesus is God then why is it unethical to pray to Him?
I know He said to pray to the Father in Jesus name, but I don't think that bars us from praising and worshiping Jesus as the second person of the Godhead directly. After all Thomas did it in John 20;28, and Thomas answered and said unto Him, My Lord and My God.

Why do people pray to Jesus..shouldn't they be praying to God?? No one is higher than God..only God should be looked upon for prayer, guidance, and worship. Jesus was a major prophet and was important, but u can't top God. God is God. God MADE Jesus. There u have it..pray to GOD not to Jesus. Respect Jesus, Pray to God. Sorry if that was slightly off-topic.

They find it is comforting to do so, especially in our Western culture. In the Mid & Far East, they are more comfortable with the Eastern Religions. In the Mid & Far East, Christians are persecuted for their Faith, so many choose the Faith less likely to be Persecuted. This however puts them at risk for Salvation (in the Christian World) since we follow Jesus, we believe as He taught that there is no Salvation outside of Him. He spoke of His Followers as an Exclusive Group. Jesus said, "I Am the Door to the Sheepfold, if any one tries to enter by any other way, he is the same as a thief & a robber." The Sheepfold was a parable of Salvation, and He left all other ways to get salvation as false & damnable. These are not my words, but His, and as Christians we believe Him to Be God manifested in human flesh. As such, He being "All Knowing & Perfect." is incapable of error. We believe all things He said & taught to be Infallible, so when He speaks of Adam & Eve, Jonah's trip in the fishes belly, Daniel's Prophecies or any other thing, as God, He knows the Truth and speaks it without apology. The fact that He & Jehovah of the Old Testament are Truly God and all others are false is why you hear people use their Names in vain, and not someone saying, "budah damn, mohamed damn or allah damn." They are not True Dieties and therefore their names are not used, it would be without meaning. Those that say allah is how the muslim say "God" are in error, allah was a moon god & had 3 daughters. This clearly is not the God of Jews & Christians, as Jehovah had One Only Begotten Son, Named Yesuah (Jesus), meaning "The Salvation Of Jehovah." Jesus said "If you have not the Son, you have not the Father." God placed Him inbetween Man & God, He is the Mediator because to God, He represents Mankind & to Mankind He represents God. You cannot get to God without going through Jesus, God's Annointed (Messiah).
