I usually text this girl Im interested in during the day, but I don't get a response till later at night. Most of the time she works late, but there are some occassions where I know she isn't working. And I know this girl usually has her cell handy, so why isn't she texting me back sooner?

I don't text her a lot (at least not lately), maybe once a week.
Also, I know she was interested in me at one time (not sure if she still is). She baked me a cake for my birthday and we've been out a few times.

Perhaps her cell phone doesn't get them to her right away - my old phone did that all the time. My friend would send me a text and I wouldn't actually receive it until several hours later. OR - maybe she's busy. You shouldn't worry about it unless she's not responding to you at all.

This is more directed at the answers regarding delayed text messages:
My experience has been that if you include the area code in the phone number you're texting to, it can shorten the delay by several hours.

Don't take it so personally... generally people don't just sit around waiting to text people. There could be any number of reasons why she would be too busy to text you back during the day. I wouldn't worry about it... she probably just has more free time during the evening.

Either she doesnt know what to say, has a bf, or is busy and misses ur text it is not becuase she doesnt like u in any case but maybe she feels a little annoyed because you say u text her alot and just because you are intrested in her doesnt meen she is intrested in you i had to realize that a bit ago just cause u like someone doesnt meen they like you and i know it is hard.......

Or she'll read it when she's busy or with her friends and not text you back until later that night because she doesn't want to text you until she can think about what she's going to say to you.
