I little dab will do you. It is to make your hair look shinny and to keep the fly aways down. In my opinion it just makes it looks greasy if not apply properly.

Pommade's are hair stylers. Some give the hair a sleek look while others are more of a matte finish. Different pommades are desingned to style the hair differently, for instance some are wax based while others are cream based. Some are pliable - others have more flexible hold. Try POWER POMADE or MOLDING WAX from FX Special Effects. They also make a product called TEXTURE DIRT which is pretty cool. You can get them at Walgreens, CVS, Wal-Mart, Albertson's, etc.

A pomade is a greasy or waxy substance used to style the hair.
Pomade makes the hair look slick and shiny. Unlike hair spray and hair gel, pomade does not dry and often takes several washings to get it out of the hair.
Most pomades contain petroleum jelly (and in fact petroleum jelly may be used alone as a pomade) and mineral oil, and many also contain some sort of wax. They may also contain perfume and coloring agents.
The origin of the word is from the French word for apple (pomme), as the original purpose of pomade was to impart the smell of apples or other fruits to the hair. This usage is now mostly forgotten. Modern pomades may contain fragrances, but they are not often particularly fruity.
Pomades were once much more popular than they are today. They are associated with the slick men's hairstyles of the early and middle 20th century.
An early example of pomade is "Murray's Superior Pomade", originating in the 1920s. In the late '90s, pomade grew from tradition to a general consumer product meaning any sort of solid "hair-styling product"; including waxes, glues, clays, and a variety of substances marketed under the original term.
In the United States they can still be found in stores or sections of stores containing hair products marketed to African-Americans. Among whites the use of pomades was, until quite recently, mostly confined to subculture groups such as rockabilly, and sometimes punk or goth. .... from Wikipedia

its used alot in the "tousled" looks too. I also have fine straight hair and use it to tame flyaways. Be very careful to use a very small amount especially because you have fine hair as too much of it will weigh your hair down and make it look greasy
