I know a lot about Manhattan, but I was wondering about the other boros. Are there other "cool" or good neighborhoods where young, hip professionals live? (And I'm not talking about Williamsburg). Most of my friends live in Manhattan, W'burg, and Park Slope but are there places in Queens that are cool? I want some place that feels safe and somewhat residential, but also has fun restaurants, cafes, etc. and access to the city.

Honestly, hippest place right now in Queens where a lot of yuppies are living is Astoria. It's right next to Manhattan and you can take the N, W, R or V there. Commute during rush hour is like 20-30 min tops to midtown. There are tons of restaurants on Broadway and 30th Avenue, and shopping up and down Steinway St. There are bars and clubs all over too.

A lot of the housing here is 2 and 3 family houses. I live in a 3 family house. For a 1 bedroom it would probably be btw $1200-1400.

Long Island City is also getting popular. There's been a lot of construction recently, you might want to look there too. Good luck.

Astoria or Flushing in Queens. If keen to stand an prolonged visit and fro to ny, Bayside. Park Slope is going to be greater high priced than Astoria, in all probability with reference to the same cost as Flushing. Flushing is the main cosmopolitan of those pronounced right here, with a great selection of groceries, eating places and issues to do. somewhat sparkling exterior the conventional corporation section.
