Does ur religion claim that Eve is the reason we're here on earth, or is it the one that says that it was BOTH Adam's and Eve's fault TOGETHER? Does it say "Seeking knowledge is obligatory on every man and woman" (Muhammad, pbuh), or does it say, "Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience...and if they will learn anything, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for woman to speak in the church" (1 Corinthians 14:34-35)? Or, "Keep a headstrong daughter under firm control, or she will abuse any indulgence she receives. Keep a strict watch on her shameless eye, do not be surprised if she disgraces you" (Eccl. 26:10-11)? Or "Never will I waste the work of a worker among you, whether male or female, the one of you being from the other" (Quran 3:195)? I could GO ON & on but not enough space :D!!

No, people, I'm NOT trying to convert ANYONE to Islam! LOL! That'd be insane of me. I'm simply trying to correct misconceptions... and many of ya'all need to explain the verses of the Quran, too, by the way. Each verse is explained in what's called "ahadith"... Anyway, and yes, I DO know my rights! LOL! Why else would I post such an important question??
Also, why is it that the MUSLIMS who've answered my question got "disagreement" votes, and the rest got "agreement" ones?! Another funny thing :D But that's ok!!! I'm not offended or insulted or hurt.... It just shows how ignorant most people are....! Some day, perhaps, we'll have more educated people, educated about the truth, I mean...
Peace to all!

Just because some Muslims treat women harshly does not mean they're being Islamic even if they claim they are.
To Cathy, I'd like to say that religion being followed should be applicable to ALL people of ALL times.... not just to one 'specific' group. And Islam is known to be the only religion applicable to all times.
To †Hayden† †Lyfe†: Islam allows for a woman to choose her own husband, and no one is allowed to force her to marriage with anyone. She's not even obligated to marry if she doesn't wish to do so (the man is totally obligated to marry), but she can do so ONLY with her own will. So, if the female doesn't wanna marry the one who raped her, no one can force her to do so. The Quran says, "O ye who believe! Ye are forbidden to inherit women against their will. Nor should ye treat them with harshness...on the contrary, live with them on a footing of KINDNESS AND EQUITY..." (4:19).
In Christianity:
"If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, he shall pay the girl's father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the girl, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives" (Deut. 22:28-30).
To Earl, I'd like to say: Just because a Muslim MAN goes around writing that intercourse is the way to make your wife make you happy makes it true for all Muslims and for what God says?
As for the Saudi court that you mentioned, know that even if
an Islamic court claims to be following Islamic laws, it still doesn't gurantee that it really may be following Islamic laws.
-- As for the hadith you mentioned abt a man killing his wife and the Prophet then praising him for doing so just cause she didn't agree with the Prophet's teachings, I'm sorry to admit to you know that becuase that hadith goes against the teachings of Quran, Muslims don't believe in it; we reject it because not every hadith is true... some are man-made for the satisfaction of men.
Islam doesn't allow compulsion in religion/beliefs even if people still do it.
Earl, you also said that the Quran allows women to be beaten (as the last resort); firstly, they can only be hit LIGHTLY and it's the LAST resort for a man. Secondly, LOL! The Bible even allows the CUTTING OF A WOMAN'S HANDS even if she tries to support her husband while he's fighting another man!
Deuteronomy 25:11-12 "And in case men struggle together (in a fight) with one another, and the wife of the one has come near to deliver her husband out of the striking one (to save her husband), and she has thrust out her hand and grabbed hold of his private (the other man's groin), she must then get both her hands cut off, and the eyes of the men must feel no sorrow."
Islam doesn't allow women to be harmed (physically, emotionally, psychologically, or in any other way). Proof below (from, answeringchristianity.com; entire link listed in Sources)
Men cannot harm their wives: "...Do not retain them (i.e., your wives) to harm them...(The Noble Quran, 2:231)"
"If a wife fears cruelty or desertion on her husband's part, there is no blame on them if they arrange an amicable settlement between themselves; and such settlement is best; even though men's souls are swayed by greed..." (Quran, 4:128)
Men can't have sex with their women during Menses, but they can sleep with them and touch them (unlike other religion): "... concerning menstruation. Say: that is Adha (a harmful thing for a husband to have a sexual intercourse with his wife while she is having her menses), therefore keep away from(it)..." (Quran, 2:222)
Maimuna (the wife of the Prophet) reported: "The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) contacted and embraced his wives over the waist-wrapper when they were menstruating" (Translation of Sahih Muslim, The Book of Menstruation (Kitab Al-Haid), Book 003, Number 0579),
--- The birth of a female (in Islam) is not a tragedy: "When news is brought to one of them, of (the birth of) a female (child), his face darkens, and he is filled with inward grief! With shame does he hide himself from his people, Because of the bad news He has had! Shall he retain it On (sufferance and) contempt, Or bury it in the dust? Ah! what an evil (choice) They decide on? (The Noble Quran, 16:58-59)" So considering the birth of females as a bad thing is evil by itself in the Noble Quran.
Narrated AbuSa'id al-Khudri: "The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: If anyone cares for three daughters, disciplines them, marries them, and does good to them, he will go to Paradise. (Translation of Sunan abu Dawud, Book 41, General Behavior (Kitab Al-Adab), Number 5128)"
Women have the right for the highest education, unlike what some Muslim fanatics claim:
Narrated Abu Musa Al-Ashari: "The Prophet said, 'He who has a slave-girl and teaches her good manners and improves her education and then manumits and gets her married, he will get a double reward...' (Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Manumission of Slaves, Volume 3, Book 46, Number 723)"
--- Some men don't like educating their females because 'they feel threatened by learned wives who are "independent", because they would "challenge their authority", and would be "harder to control". So, the fanatics' views about keeping women unlearned and illiterate as the Taliban did when they ruled Afghanistan is only their personal opinion that is not based on Islamic doctrine.'
Unsecured men do not represent Islam. You don't have to oppress your wife and keep her down in order for me to keep our marriage. The Quran says Allah created mates for you so that you "might find tranquillity and peace in them. And he has put love and kindness among you..." (Quran, 30:21).
Why does Islam not allow women to be "Imaams"? First know that women can teach anything to any males/females, provided they're dressed modestly and not dressed in such a way that they'll attract men or have men molest them or have men look at them lustfully. Plus, an imaam is supposed to lead the congregation prayer as well. What's a woman supposed to do during menstruation (when she's not supposed to pray-- will explain below)? Have a substitute imaam for 5 or so days? LOL! Also, if she's leading a prayer, some men are most likely to desire her if she's not dressed properly enough; this is simply due to the way that Muslims pray---it's not like sitting on your knees, closing your eyes, and holding your hands together in front of you. She CAN, however, lead a congregational prayer among women.
Simon, about those Taliban butchers, LOL! The Talibans butcher a poor teacher in the name of God, so you think it must be Islamic? Who told you the Talibans are following Islam in the first place? We're no one to judge, but we do have the right to correct misconceptions.
The "requirement" of 4 witnesses in case of rape:
"This requirement is needed only if a person who has no other proof accused an un-expected person of such a crime....The least of the proofs is eyewitness, and God sees to it that the four witnesses (who do not have to be men), will be a better guarantee against a deliberate plot to scheme an innocent person. The wrong application and/or understanding of the Quranic law related to rape in Islam is but a reflection of the desertion of the so called "Islamic" countries" to the law of the Quran in favor for their man-made laws..." (source listed below--submission.org).
As for why the female inherits half of what her brothers do... firstly AT LEAST SHE CAN INHERIT SOMETHING EVEN WHILE HER BROTHERS ARE LIVING!!!!
Because:
Numbers 27:1-11, widows and sisters don't inherit at all. Daughters can inherit only if their deceased father had no sons. Otherwise the sons receive the entire inheritance.
Secondly, here's why:
"In Islam, a woman has no financial obligation ... Islam holds the man, not woman, financially responsible for fulfilling the needs of the family. In order to be able to fulfill the responsibility, the men get double the share of the inheritance. Imagine, a man dies leaving about $ 150,000 and 1 son & 1 daughter. The son inherits $100,000 and the daughter only 50,000. Out of what the son inherits, as his duty towards his family, he may have to spend on them almost the entire amount; the woman gets to keep ALL of hers to herself without having to share it with anyone! Which one would you prefer?
No praying during menstruation. Why? Firstly, know that during menstruation, child labor, and other physically painful times, a woman RECEIVES BLESSINGS FROM GOD, and her sins get forgiven!!!!! Read below to understand why we can't pray while on period:
"Many women suffer from extreme cramps, heavy bleeding, nausea, headaches, and other maladies during their cycle. It is truly a sign of the mercy of Allah Almighty that we are excused from prayer during this time because in according to a hadith reported by Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri and Abu Huraira in Al-Bukhari, whenver someone's in pain or distress or hurt, his/her sins are forgiven that whole time and he/she gets blessings of good deeds that entire time till the pain/distress goes away.
She's getting rewards from God during the whole time that she's menstruating! MashaAllah!
Also, Islam does not ask the Muslim woman to give up her spiritualities or pursuit of Islamic knowledge during this time either." She can still listen to Quranic tapes, read ahadith, listen to someone else reciting the Quran or recite the verses herself, offer dua/supplication, and praise Allah.
Why Islam allows UP TO 4 wives:
The Qur’an is the only religious book that contains the phrase ‘marry only one wife’ ('Marry women of your choice, two, or three, or four; but if ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly (with them), then only one' [Al-Qur’an 4:3]). In none of the other religious scriptures, whether it be the Vedas, the Ramayan, the Mahabharat, the Geeta, the Talmud, or the Bible, does one find a restriction on the number of wives, and a man can have as many wives as he wishes. It was only later that the Hindu priests and the Christian Church restricted the number of wives to one.
Polygyny is permitted in Judaism. According to Talmudic law, Abraham had three wives, and Solomon had hundreds of wives. The practice of polygyny continued till Rabbi Gershom ben Yehudah (960 C.E to 1030 C.E) issued an edict against it.
Before the Qur’an was revealed, there was no upper limit for polygyny and many men had scores of wives, some even hundreds. Islam put an upper limit of four wives, requiring the husband to DEAL JUSTLY WITH THEM.
"Ye are never able to be fair and just as between women...." [Al-Qur’an 4:129]
Therefore, polygyny is not a rule but an exception. Many people are under the misconception that it is compulsory for a Muslim man to have more than one wife.
REASONS why polygamy is permitted in Islam (lycos.co.uk website listed in sources):
-- Average life span of females is more than that of males,
--World female population is more than male population
-- Restricting each and every man to have only one wife is not practical (not every woman who wants to be married will be married then!!... explanation on website listed; read it before arguing!!!)
-- And other sensible reasons.
Still, it's better than having ONE wife and mistresses or girlfriend to the side... this is the case with many (Western) people, you know.
--- 100,000 Americans per yr are converting to Islam, and 1/4 are women. They're discovering the FACTS and not basing their decisions on biased media. They realise they deserve to know the complete unadulterated truth. (Here are some reasons why.)

Be careful when people take single verses out of context and try to steer you off in another direction. This is manipulative. (You might end up going somewhere you won't want to be). There is much more going on behind the scenes in these biblical passages.

The fall of man-kind was common to both genders. Neither one can claim innocence. Thank goodness.

There are many examples of the contributions women make in the Bible.

The church at Corinth was a newly planted church, and Paul was giving some instruction on how to conduct an orderly meeting. The particular women in the church did not seem to be participating in the teaching, but were busy with other things and creating alot of chaos with their activities.

Paul also admonishes the men who were causing disruptions by speaking in other tongues, with no-one to interpret.

Jesus chased men out of the temple when they were trading money and not behaving well in general.

These passages should not be used as sweeping generalizations regarding either gender.

These admonitions, perhaps, appropriate in the context of the chaos that was happening in those early assemblies when they were just getting established. (You had to be there).

Proverbs 31:10 written by King Solomon shows how women could be entrepreneurial (even back in biblical times). (Some think Solomon was in the dog-house and needed to gain back a few points). It is about a very talented and ambitious woman indeed!! She should be encouraged and appreciated.

You really mean do you think you can misquote the Holy Bible, King James for English speaking, to "put a woman in her place" and under subjection to a man? The answer to that is no. Don't try to find an American wife who believes in Jesus Christ to try to convert. Just wouldn't go over too well. You are judging those whom you may have seen photographs of, not the modest chaste women who both dote on and have doting Christian husbands and neither tries to take advantage of the other and have mutual respect for one another. We are the greatest advocates for the institution of marriage in the U.S. if not the world over. That should tell you something.

Wow, does your "Prophet" really say that?

Then why did the Taliban butcher the poor teacher who was teaching his female students in his home?

Why did the Taliban make the rule that females shall not educated?

Aren't they Islamic militants?

Why does the Shari'a have the Law that a woman shall inherit only half of what goes to her brother?

Why does the Shari'a require a woman who is raped to have four devout Muslim males to be her witness or she has no case?

Why does Islam permit a man to have four wives and any number of concubines, while in the same breath it condemns any woman to death by stoning for sleeping with any other man other than her husband?

Why does Islam forbid a woman in her periods from praying?

I'm sorry, but is this what you call "Equality"?

So, where are your "Womens Rights" in Islam?

the bible is read by many meaning many different things. The Corinthians that say woman need to be silent in church to mean after learing more about why it was written was because the woman in the chuch that the letter was written for, were loud and disruptive, NOT ALL WOMAN OF ALL TIME need to be silent in church. It was for the woman in THAT church.

Yes, to me BOTH Adam and Eve were at fault.

How about Muslims study their book and ban together to make a fool of one of their former members who has some serious claims against them and their prophet.

The maybe you can ask people to invest their time to learn about your religion. If you won't invest your time to prove him wrong them maybe it is because you can't prove the truth wrong.

see for yourself how no Muslim has ever successfully been able to refute Ali Sina's claims against Islam and their prophet.

When you make a fool of him and prove him wrong you can brag to the world, it should be easy right?

Good job, sister!! I as a muslim woman am proud of you for undertaking this jihad. Women of the world deserve to know their rights, and they deserve to know that their rights are God given, NOT man given. If the men have a problem with that and choose to ignore the commands of God and oppress their wives, islamically, their wives have the right to kill them for oppression, or at least a duty to prevent them from doing it unto others. As the hadith says, Muhammad (PBUH) was heard saying to help both the oppressor and the oppressed. A man said "I know how to help the oppressed, but how do we help the oppressor?" And the Prophet (PBUH) replied with "Prevent him from oppressing further".

Hmmm. OK, so if I pointed out how in Islam women are blamed for the sin of men, you would say I was wrong in my interpretation, but you would still say these things, even though we have explanations for them. You see, that would make you a hypocrite, wouldn't it? Don't be a hypocrite.

Religion is not a right but its our duty to know it, follow it and love it. Human minds always fight for their rights but are not concerned to their duties. That is the root cause of all evils.

"How to make your wife happy by Sheikh Mohammed Abdelhaleem Hamed.

Intercourse
It is obligatory to do it habitually if you have no excuse (sickness, etc.)

Quran[4:34]: If you experience rebellion from the women, you shall first talk to them, then (you may use negative incentives like) deserting them in bed, then you may (as a last alternative) beat them.

A Saudi court has sentenced a gang rape victim (a woman) to 90 lashes of the whip because she was alone in a car with a man to whom she was not married.

Thighing is defined by Islamic scholar Khomeini in "Tahrirolvasyleh" fourth volume, Darol Elm, Gom, Iran, 1990 as follows:

"Thighing is a means for an adult male to enjoy a young girl who is still in the age of weaning; meaning to place his penis between her thighs, and to kiss her."

The following is from a committee of muslim ulema answering the question:

"the Prophet, the peace of Allah be upon him, practiced "thighing" of Aisha - the mother of believers - may Allah be pleased with her."

After KILLING his wife, the man confessed to prophet Muhammed and told him she was very decent and kind to him but he could not stand her insulting prophet Muhammed. When prophet Muhammed heard that he praised the man.

As for the women the book of Allah is emphatic that they are inferior to men and if they disobey their husbands the latter have the right to beat them (4:34). Their punishment for disobeying their husbands does not end there, because after they die they will go to hell (66:10). The Quran emphasizes the superiority of men by confirming that men have an advantage over the women (2:228). It not only denies women's equal right to their inheritance (4:11-12), it also regards them as imbeciles and decrees that their testimony is not admissible in the court of law unless it is accompanied with the testimony of a man (2:282). This means that a woman who is raped cannot accuse her rapist unless she can produce a male witness. Muhammad allowed the Muslim men to marry up to four wives (although he himself had a score of them) and gave them license to enjoy their "right-hand possessions" (women captured in wars), as many as they can capture or afford to buy (4:3), even if the woman is married before being captured (4:24).

By the way, how many Clerics or Imams are WOMEN.

The head of the Episcopal Church in America is A WOMAN.

I don't deny any of what you said, in fact it exists, BUT we are PROTESTANTS don't have to obey it or pay it any great attention. We get to pick and choose what to follow. We have a GOD given RIGHT to QUESTION.

Do ISLAMICS have the RIGHT to QUESTION ALLAH, the Quran or Muhammad!
