I think my cat may be pregnant. We have a non neutered male cat in the house with her as well but we thought he never "hit the target." She gained a lot of weight in a short period of time and also her nipples are a little bigger then normal. But she also got a little bite from a dog but I don't think that would do it.

What are the signs of pregnancy in cats?
Can a small dog nip on the butt cause the belly and nipples to swell?
How long are cats pregnant for?
What should I do?
Can anyone give me any information or a site with the information?

Thanks.

The only vet I trust with my cats is on vacation until feb... which is to late.

Also her nipples are showing... how far along are they when nipples grow?

She has been in heat before, yes. Also the bite was a tiny nip.... there was no breaking of the skin, bruising, or bleeding.

Hi there...what you are describing definitely indicates that your cat is pregnant. Feline gestation is between 63-69 days. It would be worth considering contacting other area veterinarians to get some helpful prenatal care and if there are complications with the pregnancy or birthing, which can happen with first pregancies if the cat iself is younger than a year old.

Animal shelters will perform spay/neuters for low fees and sometimes free to families who are considered qualified low income. Consider ringing 1-800-SPAY USA http://www.spayusa.org/ to locate a shelter nearby you to arrange for spay/neuters for both your adult cats and the kitten when they are old enough before adoption.

If your not up for caring for kittens and if the pregnancy isn't too far along you can still get her de-sexed and the kittens aborted.

Only do this if you can't afford to look after the kittens till their old enough to go to new homes or if your cats health is at risk.
If your going to let her have the litter, get her and the male de-sexed ASAP after the birth as recommended by a vet.

And please try and find another vet. You need back up. What if something happened to your 'trusted' vet and you had no time to find another to trust. Do some looking around now. I have two vets in my area I'd be happy to take any of my animals to. Check with other people in your area with pets.

Please don't add to the population problem, get them de-sexed.

Good luck.

Hey hey..be easy on her now she dosen't even know if the cat is pregnant. Its not her fault it was a mistake now she knows at least to spay her.

You do need to take that cat the the vets for a check up. He can tell you if its pregnant, how many kittens to excpect and if they are healthy or not. He can also vaccinate the kittens for you it would be easier to find homes for them

The next thing you should have done is FIND HOMES cats are so hard to get rid of! Dur to the amount in this world lol its ok though a few more won't hurt make sure the new owners have good homes for them and they will be SPAYED and NUETRED.

Get your male neutered and your female spyed after this litter

How long has she been gaining whieght scine you noticed?
Are her nipples pink?
When did they become enlarged?
Is she spending alot more time sleeping?

Um... my male cat is not nuetered and my house dosen't smell...I clean and he is behaved in a matter of fact I never seen him spray EVER! and he is 1 year and 6 months....

I would love to see some pictures of her and possibly her new kitens. Could you email me at?

irresponsible pet owner. you only trust one vet? sounds like you should have trusted the vet to spay and neuter your cats long before now. if you love your pets you would have had them altered.

sounds like you're going to have a litter of unwanted kittens that will go out and produce more kittens. that's nice.

OMG.

Ok first of all- your cat needs to be spayed. If you have done no prenatal care, you should not allow a litter to be born.

Neuter the male. I bet your house stinks from him spraying everywhere.
