Not all people have a personalitiy change when they drink, but their are those that do, and some of them may get mean, and hurtful, anger, while others are happy drunks. It has something to do with the chemical of the person. Some times it could also be that they should not be drinking at all with certain medications that they may be taking. Some medications, will actually make you carve alcohol. For some it may bring out the worse, for others their best comes out. Science can not answer every thing about the human mind. Actually a lot still needs to be learned about the human mind. Doctors will tell you that there is so much that they do not know or understand about the human mind, there is so much that they still need to explore and discover to answer all of the questions.

I am an alcoholic who has been sober for 8 years. We all have a dark side which is usually held in check by our conscience. When I got drunk it seems like the alcohol would deaden whatever it is in my mind or soul that holds the bad in check. It comes out at times. I could get really vicious with my mouth. Even if I was not being mean people did not want to be around me. I heard a tape recording of me drunk one time and was horrified.

When someone has alcohol in their system and depending on how much or what kind, it is always a mind altering substance. The brain reacts to the amounts of sugar that hits the brain from the alcohol. And depending on what sort of personal problems this person may have, drinking alcohol inhances their personality. If they are happy, they are REALLY happy when drunk. If depressed alot, they are REALLY depressed, maybe suicidal...

Alcohol will release inhibitions when person is inebriated. I have foiund that when MOST people are drinking (drunk) their true colors show. They will keep these in check when sober.

Not all alcoholics change personalities when they are drunk. Many people are the same drunk or sober.
