I would keep an eye on her tonight, and call the vet first thing in the morning (or be there when they open) to have them check her out. They can give her Oxytocin to induce labor, which generally works very well. How many days along is she from her last mating date? It is possible that she did not conceive until later in her cycle.

Also, take her temperature. A female dogs temperature will drop to below 99 degrees (normal is 100.5-101.5) about 24 hours before the start labor. If she is running a fever (over 102) you need to call your vet now, it can be a sign of something extremely serious.

I hope this helps and Good Luck!

Hi Mumo, Yes your vet can induce her labor. It's usually 63 days before delivery. She is a week late, which i think is a common thing with dogs, and humans. If she doesn't go into labor.soon,i would take her to the vet,and have labor induce. Your going to be a proud owner of 7 puppies. Enjoy the babies when they come. A Friend.

Oxytocin, used to induce labor.
Have you assessed your dogs contidition? Is she nessting, breathing heavy, contracting etc?
Look for this before you get too excited.
Green discharge means broken sacs, pups need to get out asap!
Call a 24 hour vet and get some extra help.

are you sure she's not having a false pregnancy? sounds like you know the breed date and normal gestation of pups is 63 days so i'll skip the details of that. 70 days is way too long for a dog. you need to take her into work with you tomorrow and x-ray her and check and make sure there are actually pups there and not something like a false pregnancy, an aborted pregnancy, or more importantly a pyometria. good luck.

She is about a week over due,,63 days is the norm. If she is miserable take her in to the vet, she may need a C-section.

they can do a c-section if there are complcations. 60-70 days is the average. anything over 70 and you should go to the vet. oxy tocin is a hormone used to induce labor in humans and last I checked the anatomical differences between a dog and human are completely different. plus it makes contractions more painful.

they can only guess at the date. I do know it is 54 days. you can take her temp. once it drops 100 they should have the puppies within 24 hours. if she is not in any pain or from what you can tell having trouble just wait till the vet is open.
