I would find out first what the reason was why the child did not show up to the party. If it was a good reason, then I would give the child the gift. If it was simply because the child did not want to go, then I would donate the gift to a good charity. Good Luck!

Hon we had this same dillemna. My son bought a small gift for his friend from school. The boy's mother said they were coming over so that the boys could play together one day. They never showed up and didn't answer their phone. I guess we keep the gift until he returns to school and can give it to him there. If I were you I'd do the same.

Find out the reason and if it wasn't really her fault, etc, then have your daughter give it to her at school or at their next outing. If she was just rude and shrugs it off, then let your daughter either keep it or give it to another friend.

I'd say your daughter could give it to her friend later. Perhaps her parents decided not to bring her to the party, but the girl may be sad that she missed out.

Package it very well and send it to her. Her conscience will haunt her and she will apologize for not even phoning.
