The Shia path is the path of purity that requires devout obedient to the Almighty GOD by adhering to His Book, and by adhering to the Sunnah of His Messenger as taught by the Ahl al bayt (family of the Messenger).
As recorded in both "Sunni" and "Shia" approved hadiths, we read that the way of guidance is through two things:
It is recorded that the Holy Prophet (S) said: "I am leaving among you two weighty things: the one being the Book of Allah....The second are the members of my household" (Saheeh Muslim #5920) http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/fundamentals/hadithsunnah/muslim/031.smt.html#031.5920
