I've always enjoyed Coke straight from a glass bottle more than any other source. Technically there is no difference, but the aesthetic of drinking from the classic green-tinted bottle with its characteristic contours always made it taste better. Back in my college days, you could buy eight 16oz bottles to a pack and I LOVED it that way.

Ok - lets go back to the beginning.
In the beginning coke included cocaine and real sugar cane sugar.
Cocaine was dropped decades ago - leaving it with real sugar cane sugar.
In both cases, it came in a glass bottle.
A few decades ago two things changed, first, they switched to corn syrup, which tastes totally different than cane sugar. And later, they dropped the recyclable glass 16 oz bottle (1986 or 1987).
Now, you have bottled in 12 oz glass bottles from Mexico - not so good,
Plastic bottles of various sizes - not so good
And cans still good, even though its corn syrup... I think we've all gotten used to that.
Anyway - the differences are real. The glass adds the least off flavor, as its the most neutral of substances. The plastic adds the most funk to the flavor, as it reacts with the acids in coke. And then there's the can - minimal interaction with the acids, easily available... good stuff.
Wish they'd have kept the 16 oz glass bottles... gods those where great...

It all depends on your personal taste. I like mine in a plastic bottle so I can close if I need to. I forget if it is Coke or what brand that is the only brand in the country that has a small bottling plant somewhere in west Texas that uses only real sugar for their drinks. Now, that would make a difference in the taste.
My personal experience with glass bottles now is that they are the highest price per unit. So beware of the marketing gimmicks.

There may not be an actual physical or chemical difference between cans/plastic bottles and glass bottles, but it sure seems to make it taste better. It probably just feels better.
At home, you should keep a few glasses in your freezer, and pour pop (aka soda to those south of the border) in that. Keep your pop in the back of your fridge, too - that's where it's coldest. The pop in the frozen glass sometimes forms thin layers of ice, and it really hits the spot when you're craving something extremely cold and tasty.

Soda companies use level 1 plastic (poorest and cheapest plastic) and some chemicals seep into the soda. The best plastic is level 7 and it doesn't seep into the substance. It can't harm you too offly bad but it will seep if it gets freezed or it gets too hot (sun).. however with glass it doesn't seep into the pop thus making it the freshest taste.
P.S. I think aluminum cans cause Alzheimer's and to check if you don't believe me research it and also look at the recycle triangle on the bottle and it will say 1.
your welcome

While it depends on the circumstance, soda/beer in bottles can be better in glass.
The main reason is temperature. With the greater mass of the glass, it tends to keep the drink colder, longer while held in your warm hand. As a result, colder beverages are deemed tastier.
However, glass has it's downfalls. Outside of breakage, lighter colored bottles allow in light which can "skunk" beer.

i very much agree, i like dr pepper, and i hate it in a can, it seems much sweeter, in the plastic bottles it seems like strongish, cant explain, and it taste like perfect in a bottle when u find them. but even when i do get it out of a can or bottle, it seems to taste better in a glass cup rather than plastic
