This truck wont start unless the gas pedal is to the floor.Once it starts up it runs fine,no misses ect.It has the 5.0 engine, and we have replaced all of the following:both fuel pumps, fuel filter,TPS,fuel regulator,IAC,PCV,Air Filter, and had the TFI module tested,it's ok.It has 35-42 lbs of fuel pressure at the rail, and that is within spec, and it doesnt leak down. The injectors that were within easy reach were tested by me,they are ok,and I dont believe that it is the injectors anyway since the truck runs smooth once it starts. The regulator has good vacuum running to it,and works like it is supposed to no suprise since it was just replaced. I pulled the plugs, hoping that they would give me a clue to a starving cylinder,no go there, they all have good color,so that was a bust too.

Engine still sounds like on an older model when the choke would stick closed then once it wawrmed up it was o.k. till it got cold again. What wouold be the equivalent of a choke on one of these? other than that, I'm lost too .

are you 100% sure the injectors don't bleed down after setting a while.sounds like it is flooded.have had three trucks in my shop with very similar problem and on all found that after about an hour af sitting they didn't want to start.found injectors to be the problem on all 3. wasn't every injector either.just 3 on one truck and 4 on other 2. this all within last 6 months.some blame it on the ethanol in the fuel slowly deteriorating the injector seats.I'm not sure about that part though.

Sounds like too much fuel pressure, or the ect out of range, meaning water too cold, such as thermostat or sometimes the sensor itself.
Another problem could be the map sensor, or the mass air flow sensor.

Does it have a "Throttle Position Sensor" You can talk to someone (a technician) at FORD the one who builds them and find out how to access the On Board Computer. I did exactly that with the folks who make the Cadillac, it took a few phone calls, but I did it.

i own a repair shop, and you need to check the coil for good fire,,not weak fire,,but good blue fire on it,,this is what it needs to run on,,also a bad ignition switch can cause one not to fire at all,i have seen this happen a lot especially with the ford trucks,,they just seem to give out after a while i have replaced a lot of them in the past year alone,,for this same problem,,keep looking maybe you,ll get it straitened out,,good luck hope this help,s.

I had the very same problem once and it cost me $120.00 to find out that the rotor had a microscopic hole in it that allowed enough spark through to fire occasionally and to look like it was getting spark but in fact the hole was allowing it to ground out on the rotor it self. A $10.00 dollar part, and less than 3 minutes to replace.

check cold start circuit. There might be fuel pump start relay pod that is sticking or is bad.
