It doesn't take genius to find your career. It takes the effort to first LISTEN to yourself and respect what YOU FEEL you'd like to do. Answer WHY you'd like to be in that career field.

Next comes the efforts at taking a good look into that career field: see if it's what you REALLY want to do. And if you do find THAT one career, make your passion to BE in that career your drive to succeed in meeting the college requirements and earn that degree. This is where sheer guts and driven determination kick in; you have it in you--make it work for you.

Not all genuises are successful people. I know a successful genius writer who can't fix his car. I know a shade tree mechanic you'd never guess can program computers.

You're scared you don't know what you'd like to do as your life's work. Hey: I've been there......and I gave up on myself way too early in the game. Don't make my mistake.

Buy a copy of "Please Understand Me II" and take the Temperment Sorter. Select from the list of careers best suited to your personality type and interests, until something else catches your fancy.
Regardless of what you major in, work hard and do well. Community college is a great place to be. Take advantage of all the resources the school offers ... writting labs, math labs and tutors, movie discounts, seminars and events.
Its very easy to just get any degree and allow things in life to fall into place, without worrying so much about it. Take the classes that interest you the most, they'll be the easiest and most joyful ones for you. Take one required class per semester. You'll be suprised how fast it all goes by.
When I graduated, I walked into the registrar's office and asked ... "I think I'm about done now, so what degree do I qualify for? Whatever it is, I'll take it."

What do you mean by "mess up big time"? Are you afraid of getting bad grades? I found college easier than school, if that makes you feel any better(well, at least the first year). And many students change their major, sometimes multiple times! I changed my minor twice.

But most important of all, relax and take it easy. Your grades are not going to matter 20 years from now. You should be able to look back and think it was worth it, from your definition of what "worth it" is.

I think you have to follow your interests or having the career won't matter. You are going to have to try harder and buckle down. If you don't know yet, just take core classes. many students dont know in the beginning. Maybe take some time off to consider what you want to do with the rest of your life. don't pick something because you think you can do it, if you are just going to hate it. You can do that at McDonalds without spending the tuition money.

take general studies the first time around...this way, you will have all of you regular courses out of the way. while you are doing this, just read into other things or take something really general like business management, or applied science so that you can have any job you want and the degree is good....you wont believe how transferrable a college degree is.

Why would you need to be a genious to graduate? High school isn't that hard. College can be tough but you don't need a high IQ to go. Do your work and study. If you aren't learning impaired then you shouldn't have a problem.
