Superstitiously it means you will have two years of bad luck. Superstitious are highly prejudiced though. Why is the black cat thought to be bad and not the white cat or the calico cat? Black cats are usually more friendly than other kinds of cats.

Good luck! :) We had a stray black cat we "adopted" since he ran the neighborhood and he'd come by our place to eat, hang out and nap. He was our buddy til we were two days away from moving out of state, and someone ran him over during the night. We were so sad bc we were thinking of bringing him with us. But all in all, I think black cats are wonderful!

well contrary to popular belief black cats are good luck. I have 2 black cats at this time and in the last year that i got them i have gone from making 10.30 per hour to starting a job Jan 2. making 30.00 per hour, and that is just for starters.
But at any rate consider yourself lucky.
