If your boyfriend already knows that you two keep in touch, he probably expected your ex to call for Christmas, and will most likely understand if you calmly explain to your boyfriend it was a casual, friendly "love you".

That was a pretty big blow to your b/f. Naturally he'd be upset and a little jealous and worried about if you still have strong feelings for your ex and if your playing him or not. The best thing, in my opinion, if those feelings don't exist is to explain to him that there's nothing to worry about and try to reassure him that all is well with the 2 of you. I mean you spent part of your life with your ex. If you split on good terms and can still be friends that's great. Most people can't do that. I think he should understand or hope he does.

I really think his feeling are hurt and he feels that he was disrespected in front of family. He might be upset. It's only natural. Either way, you owe him an apology. Throw your pride out the window and apologize to your current boyfriend for saying, "I love you" to another man. Even if you said it to him as a friend, it doesn't change the fact that you were once in love with him and have a lot of history together. You need to be more considerate of your current boyfriend. He doesn't want you to ever say those words to another man, specially some one you were once intimate with. Good luck!

Oh, you fell for that! Whenever you are friends with your ex to an extent yes he is keeping tabs on you and when your ex that you're friends with calls and does the "love you" thing, you never say "i love you, too" back, especially in front of the current b.f.! You go," I'm over at so-and-so's place with their parents. You take care, too. Bye." and then hang up. Then you screen your calls the rest of the time you're out with the current b.f.
Yes, your current guy is freaked out to think your ex is still exchanging "I love you" with you because it says to your new guy that your ex is still in your life. No guy wants to think he has to share his partner with someone else and he's going to be apprehensive about your commitment to him.

If he is in the past, leave him there. It doesn't feel good knowing that another man has access to your woman. Especially if it's an ex. You too had planety of opportunity to be caring and friendly when you were together. That was just straight disrespectful to do.

My dear, you f*cked up. You made your boyfriend feel insecure by telling your ex-husband that you still love him. You may have meant in a friendly way, but your boyfriend didn't hear that.

Its none of his business on who is calling you. You are not married to him so he has no right to tell you who should call you.
