I'm a school lunch lady and I serve enough high fat and high sugar foods to kill a horse. I just think for the children there should be an option of better, healthier foods. Getting the kids to actually eat it -- well that's another story!!

Because there are times when you don't have time for a full meal. Like if you have tutoring during lunch, in cases like that, there needs to be access to some sort of food you can eat on the go. And what about night classes at the school or after school activities where there isn't time to go home and grab a bite but yet the lunchroom is closed? Again, the vending machines are providing a much needed service of letting people who don't just go to school during regular hours for their education.

Yes I think they should offer something fresh and healthy. Many kids only get a decent meal at school. When my daughter was in high school they offered a salad bar and she would choose a salad 3 out 5 days because she didn't care for the hot food options they offered.

Yes. I think we need to enforce heathly eating habbits in our children. I don't think brining these fast food places into school cafeterias are a smart idea. I dosen't teach our children to eat anything but the fas and easy. I think having a salad bar and other options are a great idea. Give them choices But a healthy one. I rember my high school had a hot food line and a sandwich and salad bar. It was nice to have a varity but with out bringing pizza hut or burger king into the schools.

What healthy foods in the cafeteria?
At my school I can turn my pizza upside down and watch grease drop off of it.
Yes they have salad but it's gross salad, but the rest is basically cheap, fattening fast food type stuff.
So if they did attempt to have healthy food I'm sure they would just get the cheap gross kind and I wouldn't eat it. Oh and they would definitely over charge.

Yes. But then again I never eat at school. Sometimes I will if I get like a bag of chips out of the vending machine but for the most part I eat healthy at home anyway. And not to sound rude, but I don't think it would kill some kids at my school to eat a healthy lunch...

Yes, I agree because that meal may be the only good thing they will have all day. Some parents work all day and dont have time to cook. this way at least they have a healthy meal a day
