Yes but not on the bed. The dog will think it is in the same rank as u.

5. Don’t Let Your Dog Sleep In Your Bed

This is a tough one for a lot of people, but when you let your dog share your bed, at best you’re making him an equal to you. He should have his own bed, either a dog pad or his crate that he feels comfortable in – you can even put the dog pad next to your bed if that makes both of you happier – but don’t let him take over the sleeping arrangements. Before you know it, he’ll be trying to make you sleep on the floor!

Yes!!!! But if it is a small dog and you let it sleep on the bed with you, you should provide it with some little steps. You would not want your dog to injury it's back by falling off the bed, or strain a muscle. I would also suggest making sure your keep your dog bathed, you don't a bed full of fleas or ticks. I also suggest washing your bedding in hay water and putting it threw 2 rinse cycles to keep if as fresh and pet free as possible. If you do not let it on the bed, provide them with a dog bed that has a removable cover. One that can be washed every week to keep it fresh and clean smelling. Some dog even prefer sleeping on a crate. It gives them a place to feel safe and secure. It makes them feel they have a place to hid when there is activity overload.

dogs are pack animals. your room is considered the den. dogs are happiest sleeping in the same "den" as other pack members - and when pack members are spread out between different rooms, they will generally prefer to sleep with the alpha member of the pack.

you can absolutely let your dog sleep in the same room with you, or on your bed, if you prefer. the key words there are that YOU LET the dog. if you say it's ok to sleep on the bed, then never let your dog jump up in bed without an invitation first from you. if you want your dog to sleep in a doggy bed, then make certain that you do not cuddle your dog in your bed and then wonder why it wont sleep in its own bed.

be consistent. be firm. your dog will appreciate a bed that is soft, one that has at least one taller side to put it's back against, and a bed that if not with you, is in a dark, quiet corner with good visibility to all areas of the room...

I got my 60 lbs lab mix a "kitty cup." It's a foam bed with high walls that he can curl up in. He loves it, and he rarely is allowed on our bed, only when invited up with an "ok, jump up."

good luck.

I have let my 5 month old Bichonpoo sleep in my room since I got her at 12 weeks. But not in my bed. Dogs should have their own beds and puppies should be kept in a pen or crate.

OK, here we go. Depending on your dog's temperament, he may sleep in your room, but, NEVER on your bed. We do not treat dogs like we do humans and we do not want to create problems with OUR behavior, for which we will blame the dog later in life. One of my dogs is allowed free roaming through the house and he chooses to sleep in my room. He has never attempted to get up on my bed, and I have never invited him to do so. My competition dog sleeps either in the kennel outside, or in his crate in the office, never in my room. He has EXTREME dominance issues and to let him sleep in my room will give him the idea that we are on the same level and that IS NOT the case. So, to prevent problems before they come up, rather then try to fix them AFTER, he sleeps in a place of my choosing. Evaluate your dogs temperament and decide accordingly. Oh, and no, our dogs are NOT like our children who are allowed to sleep on our beds, they are dogs, and should be treated as such.

My two dogs sleep with us in the bedroom, starting in their own beds. Most of the time the female will come snuggle with us in the middle of the night.

I have a poodle and I wouldn't be able to stand it if she didn't sleep in the bed with me.
Yes it's okay! That's your baby.

It's olay to let your poddle sleep in your room. It helps the dog become more secure in new surroundings. Or it helps the dog bound with his/her owner.
