don't let ignorant people influence your choices.
don't let people whose opinion mean nothing hurt your feelings.
i understand how you feel. i had the same thing happen to me when i was in jr. high. i didn't let it bother me.

remember that witch originally meant wise one. continue to follow the path that you chose if you really want to.

edit
please don't listen to people who tell you that wicca is evil or of satan. wicca has nothing to do with satan. pagans don't believe in satan. that's a christian concept.

i will keep you in my thoughts.
blessed be.

When you are a member of a non-traditional religion then one of the first things you have to do is get a thick skin. You will find some people will be supportive or at least understanding, some will care less and there will always be some that are just going to be rude and crude.

If you feel like you have to give up your religion due to this then maybe it isn't your path. If you feel strongly about being a Wiccan then you will be able to put the comments aside.

And if you are doing spell work you are a witch. That's part of being a Wiccan as well.

You should not be discussing religion with anyone in school. I am NOT a christian and have studied wiccan religions and many of the worlds major religions. The wiccan religion is OLDER than christianity. and you are considered a witch. SInce you have already discussed your religion with people you must now accept the fact that you may not be accepted by your peers or you are now at the task of educating them about what you truly do believe. I feel that you in thge future should not discuss the fact of your religion unless you are a close firend with someone. Kids can be cruel and hurtful. I hope that you also know that kindness and goodness can radiate from you and you get back what you send out three times three. Do no harm to others! even if they do harm to you!! =) Best wishes to you and I hope you can get past this issue at your school. If you don't discuss it again with anyone at your school this too shall pass. Set an example also, be tolerant of thier religious beliefs, and maybe they will be passive in yours they lost thier way a long time ago taking The person Jesus words out of context. Oh yes, so you know Jesus definitly lived, But is he a son of a god or a Jewish profit??? that is the ultimate question. =) Happy winter solstice and may she look kindly on you!

I believe if you practice witchcraft, you are a witch, Maybe you practice wiccanery and you're a wiccan. They may be correct in calling you a witch, either way it's probably not something people of school age are usually prepared to stand around and discuss with you, I would suggest keeping your personal belief system to yourself or you may stand up to bullying but probably may end up in physical jeopardy. a third option is to go the library and read up on religions, then make an informed decision (or possibly an emotional one) Do NOT do the research on-line., this possibly would open you up to unscrupulous, self-motivated devious people so just read and read and read. If you have a good heart & a loving soul, I wish you luck

For all those that say that a Wiccan is a Witch really need some education. A Witch is someone who practices Witchcraft, and not all Wiccans do. Simply tell them that you are a Pagan or a Wiccan.

Not all Wiccans are Witches, and not all Witches are Wiccan.

I am both.

If you are questioning it this much and are willing to "give up all together", then, obviously you're questioning your own belief. Being Wicca is a religious, spiritual choice, and you need conviction about it to withstand others' blasphemous taunting. Figure out for yourself why you are Wicca. Is it because you feel deeply rooted to and connected to the beliefs? Is it because you want to be different and rebel against the religion sanctioned by your parents and society. If it is the latter, then that probably wasn't the right reason to make this decision, and you may as well give up. If it is the former, then hang in there and you will be guided toward the strength to stand by your convictions.

Honey, I am not necessarily full-fleged Wiccan but I highly associate with the belief......I am much older than you, raised a Christian....now I am no certain denimination of any religion.....just Highly Spiritual.....I counsel many...am a mentor...and I am what Wicca terms as a "natural Witch".....honey I don't even mention that word to my clients and friends that I counsel.....a few of my close friends know I am...and they have seen firsthand my abilities....I heal things, especially animals...I can remove pain from others....this and that...but hon...since Wicca is not a religion that is widely-accepted and you are young and in school...this is expected to happen...no, do NOT give up your beliefs in spite of others....you are what you are...have warred many years with that same thing myself...please email me if you want...running out of room here...lol... brenda_xvr@yahoo.com

Do you need anyone else's permission or validation to follow your religion?

Are you Wiccan because you want to be "cool"? Do you tell your friends because you want to impress them or shock them, and are now upset because they're making fun of you?

Or do you truly feel a connection with the God and Goddess, and that's why you consider yourself Wiccan?

If you're asking whether you should continue with your religion or give it up altogether because some people are giving you a hard time about it, I wonder just how serious you are about it.

Religion is about your connection with your Divine. It's not a popularity contest.

I wear my pentacle openly, and I have no need to defend nor justify my faith to anyone else - it's my faith, my path, and it's not dependent on someone else saying it's "okay" or "a good choice".

best thing to do is toughen up lots of people associate wicca and witchcraft hence wiccans are witches to most people.
To good friends I would explain the difference. Not to worry about everyone else.
I know its hard. I have been there and done that and belive me its not easy.
I will be lighting a candle for you my dear.

Studying Wicca has to do with witchcraft. You live in a free country and you have the right to be who you want to be.Tell them that is right for you if that is what you want. As long as you harm none do what you will is that not much like the golden rule. Do unto other as you would have them do unto you. I am kinda of strange myself because i believe in God in heaven and i don't go to church i just see some things a little different. You can not always expect other people to understand you or how you believe. Don't make fun back at them just think for yourself. This is a strange world we live in. Bless you.

Im also wiccan, and pake pride in the word witch.
When people call you that in a negative way, they mean the "judeo christian version of a witch" (mostly) and we wiccans hold NO resembalance to thoes "witches" we neither, fly, cast spells on enemies, have massive warts (I hope not), and of course, we dont worship the devil, or believe in him.

When they call you that, their deffinition and yours of "witch" are completely different
