Some of the most long lasting relationships begin as friendships. I was once told it's very important to like the person you want to be with, especially during the tough times. That being said, I wouldn't push him too hard. If he gets shy around you when you talk about dating that may be a signal that he doesn't think of you that way right now. I fell for my best guy friend and unfortunately he didn't nor ever will return the feelings. I pushed it and now our friendship is strained somewhat. So proceed very carefully. Nurture the friendship, if something more grows great! But if not you know you'll always have a good friend in your corner.

Yes, I sure do. You need to tell him that you love him and no matter what happens between the two of you you'll always be friends. Ask him how he feels about you. If he acts shy around you when you talk about the two of you going out. He probably does like you.
I hope you guys get together. XD

I agree with lovey, wait it out. My best friend in school also shied away from people telling him that we should date, or that we were already a couple, which we were told all the time. Now we are 26, and have the best relationship, not to mention two beautiful kids. If you really have feelings for him, tell him, and give him time to absorb it, then ask how he feels. Worked for me, and I'm so happy that I was willing to wait.

Only you know in your heart. but the thing is would you want to ruin a a great friendship if it dont work out?. Maybe you should put off the feelings that you have for him as a high school sweetheart and maybe keep them for your future husband. now you want to experience dating life..of other people. but from experience im sure your feelings are very strong that you dont want to wait. so take the risk.Life is about risk, and if they fail you learn.

Make a move, either he will accept or reject, and this way you can move on...just know its always harder for guys to make the first move not because of the fear of rejection but because if they do get rejected, they may lose the friendship, so talk it out (make a move, don't jump on him), and see what happens...either way, you'll know if its just friendship or something more...if anything...u could be "friends with benefits"...kidding...:)

EVALUATE THE FRIENDSHIP FIRST. DEBATE IF CROSSING THE LINE IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO, WHEN YOU GET INTO RELATIONSHIPS WITH BEST FRIENDS THINGS CHANGE IN A DRASTIC WAY. YOU CANT JOKE LIKE YOU USE TOO, THE GREEN EYED MONSTER COMES OUT OF YOU. ITS HARD TO TURN BACK, JUST THINK ABOUT IT. I'VE BEEN THERE ITS NOT A GOOD THING TO LOOSE A FRIEND OVER THINKING YOU ARE IN LOVE.

boys come and go, best friends last forever. If you take the chance of changing your relationship, and it doesn't work out, there's a pretty good chance you'll lose the friendship.
