The police officers and the wrecker both said to me that their insurance was going to buy me a new car. So what can I expect from that? Does it matter what kind of car I am driving?

i own a shop, and very often this is just an expression used ,it means your car is totaled out just from looking at it,,they will only give you fair market value,,so i wouldn't count my money just yet,,wait and see what they offer you for it,,it is all going to depend on what kind of a car you had,and how old it is,,just be patient, with this one,,you may come out of it alright,,good luck with it i hope this helps, merry x-mas.

The insurance company will write a check for the book value of the car that you wrecked. If if was a newer vehicle and you end up owing more than the book value was, then either A] you will have to pay the difference off or B] You have GAP insurance which will cover the difference. If you were driving an older vehicle that is already paid for, then the most you will recieve is the KBB.

What kind of question is this? Did the cop or the wrecker total your car? Were you driving a new car? If not, I really doubt any insurance company will pay for a new one. If you were driving a $500.00 beater then that's what you can expect in the form of settlement IF you were not at fault and IF the at fault party has insurance.

Unless the cop car or the wrecker hit your car, their insurance isn't going to pay you a dime.

The insurance company of the at-fault driver will pay the actual cash value of the car immediately prior to the accident. They will deduct for any pre-existing damage and cut you a check.

No insurance policy will buy a new car. You only get what the car was worth immediately prior to the accident, no more, no less.

Im assuming what they meant is in their opinion your car is totalled. An adjuster will first have to do an estimate to determine if the car will cost less to replace then repair- if this is the case then they will pay the actual cash value of your vehicle.

Insurance has no obligation to pay off your loan nor to buy you a car better then your vehicle you had before- actual cash value can be found at nada.com.

I even have my own automobiles thank you very lots, i do no longer choose your POS to force. different than for that, there should not be 0.5 a tank of gasoline lacking. the only factor that includes concepts is that whilst your vehicle replaced into sitting exterior of their vehicle parking zone, somebody stole your gasoline. the shop, any dealership or any coloration tree mechanic isn't responsible for what happens on your motor vehicle whilst this is on their premises. it is not common practice for the shop to take your gasoline.
