PATIENCE!!!! nothing is instant. Get some small dog treats and start working with him. Start with sit, lay down and simple stuff. I have 2 black labs. they are smart dogs but they aren't going to know what to do if you don't spend a lot of time training him. work with him everyday. don't work with him one day and then forget for a week. he'll forget everything you taught him. Once he 'sits' (or whatever you are teaching him) give him lots of praise and a treat. Spend about 30 mins to an hour with him. Also, consider taking him to a class. I know some Petco's will offer dog training classes. you can get some ideas from those
Make sure only one person is training him at a time. If 3 people are talking at the same time he is going to get confused and not know who to listen to. once he learns what he needs to do he will listen to others

Labs are very clever dogs. Usually in training, the humans are at fault, because the commands given are not constant. And also your dog might think he is the alpha leader, not u. So to make sure u and ur family are the pack leaders, u can do simple things like making sure that you and family always eat first before the dog, don't let your dog go out of the door entrance before u etc.
Then be constant in your train. Cheers

Your dog is probably not stupid, just curious and full of energy. His attention is else where and you want it (and it should be) on you. So what you need to do is make yourself the funniest, most interesting thing around that has total control over everything he could ever want or need. (i.e. play time, food, treats, walks, training, love and even sleep.) Start daily training sessions, this will help the most. Dogs like to learn, and they love to make you happy (and be rewarded!) This will build a good bond between the two of you. Reward him for everything good he does, and he'll always be awaiting a comand from you, eager to get praise. Just make yourself the FUNNEST thing to him and you'll have his full attention, he'll be wondering what's next- play time, walk to the park, eating, etc. Don't for get Labs are high energy dogs, and need to be exercised regularly to be a happy companion.

Where I live, you are up for a hefty fine if your dog is found wandering the streets. Nevertheless, WHEN he comes home, always use his name first, it gets his attention. Call him by name, when he comes give him a treat, get him to sit, and give him plenty of praise. Always, use his name first whatever you want him to do. Food works wonders. , so does a bit of love and affection, how about taking him for walks instead of letting him go by himself. You have him on a lead, say "Bruno sit" , stop walking and push down on his rump till he IS sitting, then make out he did it all by himself, praise, cuddles, food.Then."Bruno walk" and jerk him up and off you go, keep repeating this and youre well on the way. Then you can add more stuff. Good luck. Get off your butt and do it!By the way, anyone else training him must use exactly the same methods you do.Good Luck

your dog doesn't respect you. first of all, why is your dog out wandering alone in the first place? seems that he's taking advantage of the situation at hand by leaving at will.
when your dog comes home, assert your position as alpha member of the "pack." secure your dog to you with a short lead, and begin to go about your day as you normally would. have the dog attend to your side as you do this, and praise him for being so good. make him sit. do not give him attention whenver he demands it - if he comes up to you and nuzzles you with his nose, ask him to sit first - then pet and praise.
the only way that you are going to change your dog's behavior is to change your own. dogs do as dogs do.
if you want an attentive dog,pay attention to him. if you want a respectful dog, then pay him respect as well. and if you want a smart dog, then start being smart yourself and quit letting your dog roam free and untended. who will be the stupid mutt when he gets hit by a car??
if you can't afford the time, money, and devotion that is required of a dog owner, then take him to the humane society and put him up for adoption to go to someone who can give him the time and training that he needs. good luck.

If he pulling returned shop planted and pull returned and say NO. whilst he isn't any long pulling then you certainly can shop strolling. If he pulls returned repeat! it may take a quick time the dogs will understand that as quickly as he wont flow any the place. you're able to be the chief and be greater assertive. you are the boss do no longer permit the dogs decide on, you decide on. whilst he tries to bounce out of the vehicle say NO pull returned on the lead and make him take a seat till you're saying its ok. do no longer permit him push you out the door pull him returned tell him NO make him take a seat! Use the prong collar that is going to shop your existence. I bribe dogs with treats. Say Sit, gently push your dog's butt down and when he's sat down repeat Sit and slip him a treat. You spend about half an hour a day teaching your dog stuff this way. Teach him to stop and sit at curbs, bribe him with treats. Labs are usually smart dogs.
