Hi Liz...they certainly can snore...some more than others. Flat faced cats are more prone to snoring as well.

Do Cats Snore?
Most of us will readily admit to being woken up in the middle of the night by our husband's (or wife's) imitation of an oncoming locomotive, but by our cat's snoring? You don't mean that delicate little creature peacefully grooming herself on your bed right now? Alas, a new study conducted at the Mayo Clinic has found out the terrible truth: Of the people who say they allow their pet to sleep in the bedroom with them at night, snoring was reported in 21 percent of dogs and (gasp!) 7 percent of cats.

My cat snores. She only snores when there is alot of pollen in the air. I have been told by the vet that I am lucky enough to have a cat that has sinus problems. My cat stays in the bathroom while I shower and that helps cut down the snoring a bunch!

My 13 year old cat Leo Snores. He likes to hide under the bed but I can hear him under there snoring so I know where he is. I think it's funny since he thinks he's hidden and everyone can hear him snoring. I had another cat that snored. He was my 16 year old cat Bobby that sadly passed away in July of this year.

Snoring happens when the tissue in the back of the throat occludes the airway. If your kitty has a fat little body or if she has a pushed in face like a Persian then snoring would probably be considered normal. One of my fat cats snores. I have a Shih Tzu dog that snores even when he isn't asleep because he has a short pushed in kind of nose. I gave him away when he was a baby to my daughter and her family and after 2 months they gave him back because he snored so loud he kept them all awake!

my cat snores. She is the first cat that I've had that does this, she is also the first chubby cat that I've had, I'm thinking maybe that's why she snores.

I had one that liked to sleep flat on his back with all four feet sticking start up in the air. Sleeping like that he'd snore like a horse.
